“Adequate but not the best experience”

The room looked clean but on closer inspection the carpet was a little grubby and there were long hairs from a previous occupant which was off-putting. The coffee provided in the room is disgusting. Breakfast was adequate though the orange juice tasted stale and toast was of the standard cheap sliced variety. The best thing is the location which is walking distance to the town and ferry. If I had a choice, I would probably not stay here again. There are better guesthouses in Cowes.

“If Carlsberg made B&Bs the Anchorage would be one of them.”

We stayed while visiting friends on the Island, and found the room to be very comfortable, bright and clean. The house is tastefully fitted out and is a short walk from the main street and ferry. Peter made us feel very welcome and is to be commended for the choice and quality of the breakfasts served. We'll certainly be returning in the Autumn.

“A very pleasant stay in a good location, I will be returning soon”

Having been fated by the ash cloud and unable to go abroad, I decided to go to the Isle of Wight for 4 days and stayed at Anchorage, in Cowes. This fulfilled all my expectations of a good Engllish B & B, lovely room, delicious varied breakfast menu (had to try it all). The Proprietor was cheerful and helpful, and gave me usefull tips to make the most of my short visit
I found the Isle of Wight to be both interesting and beautiful with its pretty villages, varied scenery and coastline, and I would recommend the Island for a short break and I intend to return to Anchorage in the near future.

“Back again, and better than before.”

Having stayed at The Anchorage during the week for a period of five months last year, and been delighted, I'm back again for several months and can't stay here and not sing it's praises. It's a lovely house, large and bright, great position, tastefully decorated and always clean. I've been fortunate enough to stay in all the rooms during my visits, and all are very comfortable. The breakfast is to a high standard, with a good choice. The owner goes out of his way to make me welcome. Having just read a negative review about this place, I can only say that the review must be for somewhere other than this. As I said last year. What a great find.

“Never stay here again!”

It was not a pleasant stay. Owner seemed friendly, but always had a smirk on his face. Even though there was a ' No smoking' sign on the front door, the guesthouse stank of smoke so much so that we smelled of smoke and so did our clothes when we arrived home...and we don't smoke! The food was of the cheapest quality and it was not of high standards. Noticed that all the fire doors were propped open, which is a a huge concern. Would not recommend this place to anyone.
