After staying at many Hotels/b&b´s close to the airport, we have been disappointed many times, but after spending some time scrutinizing the Internet we have found "Oak Lodge" Bed & Breakfast.
After recently staying there we would highly recommend Oak Lodge to anyone wishing to overnight close to London Stansted Airport.

Oak Lodge is a quality Tudor style luxury bed & breakfast set in secluded gardens, the perfect place to relax for a few days or just for one night, With comfortable and very nicely decorated rooms, the whole feel of this place was very relaxing and friendly.
The owners Jan & Ron arranged taxis for the short trip to airport.. excellent service

Jan and Ron at the Oak Lodge B&B are a pair of gems! Welcoming and extremely friendly, they made us feel right at home in their stunning house. We chose this B&B out of the raving review that we read here. Not ever thinking that it could be THAT good.. But the reviews here do not do the place, or more important the "housekeepers" justice. The location is absolutely beautiful, a nice big garden surrounding the old Victorian house that are the home of Jan and Ron. And this is the point, they make you feel like you are a visitor to their home, and not just another customer at the B&B. They are absolutely the two most friendly people you are likely to ever meet in your life. The welcome you with open arms and an open heart, and they will make you feel relaxed and well taken care of.
The Oak Lodge are only about 4 km from Stansted Airport, but as mentioned before there are no noticeable air pollution from the planes. We (family of 5) stayed almost a full week with Jan and Ron, and we had some nice quite evenings in the garden. We would really recommend you to use the Oak Lodge as a "homebase" if you are visiting England for a holiday. There are so much to be seen in this part of England, and with a car you could take day trips throughout the whole of mid England without the kids getting bored in the car. Anyway, do yourself a favor and visit Jan and Ron at their beautiful home, its well worth a trip to the UK on its own. Best regards from Norway. Søren & Bente + the kids..

We traveled to the UK from NZ, and needed a one night stay while waiting for a flight to Germany next day from Stansted. Having seen the great TripAdvisor reviews we decided Oak Lodge was the place to stay. Oak Lodge is nicely located, close enough to Stansted, yet far enough away for no plane noise. Not far from the local pub, for lunch or dinner. Located down a small rural road, we had no disturbance at all at Oak Lodge. Excellent and attentive hosts, superb breakfast, all we needed on our fleeting visit. Recommended. Would stay again.
