Needing to stay on a business trip to London, I booked a couple of nights at the Days Inn.

I agree with some of the other guests in that the hotel reception is lovely and I couldn't fault the staff but once past the reception and into the hotel itself is not so good.

The corridors and rooms themselves are very tired, the bathroom looked as if it should be ripped out and rebuilt, the shower leaked water all over the floor, the bath and sink were full of marks.

.....And the smell. There is this god awful smell that runs right through the hotel and even into my room, it smells like open drains and was present for 2 nights of my stay.

I had problems with the breakfast some mornings but when speaking to the staff they were more than happy to rectify this for me.

The reception area is lovely, the rest of the hotel isn't as well kept. The lift is so old it was scary. The room was nice, clean and quite big. However the toilet was leaking from the waste pipe leaving dirty water on the floor and a smell that lingered throughout the room. The bed is comfy enough, ample free parking for hotel guests and services close. Staff were friendly, but when told of the problems did not get an apology let alone a refund, not like premier inn!

I booked this hotel having had an excellent experience at the Wetherby Days Inn only a couple of weeks ago. However, this branch was quite a disappointment. The reception area was cheerful & bright, but as soon as we stepped into the corridor we were hit by the fusty smell, which pervaded the bedroom as well. Otherwise, the room was of a reasonable standard; it just had an overall feel of being somewhat dated, as did the bathroom.
Our biggest disappointment came on the second night, of our three night stay, when we were joined by our daughter for whom we had booked a single room. The first room she had been assigned did not have working curtains or a hair-dryer. She was offered, & accepted, an alternative which had a bathroom for the disabled. In the morning she found that this had a defective shower.
In a nutshell, the major problems, I believe, were down to a poor standard of house-keeping.
Overall, the old adage of "you get what you pay for" applies. At £39 a night for a hotel so close to London it's not a bad deal.

This hotel is deep down unclean and rotten.
(i) The staff who cleans the rooms smokes itnself in non-smoking rooms
(ii) Even worse is that the blankets and matraces give the impression someone has used it before and it was never exchanged since opening of the hotel. We had the feeling that microorganisms could make you ill or many people have ejaculated on these blankets before. A very horrible feeling I must say.
(iii) The staff at reception was friendly, but what can they do if the owner obviously lets this hotel go down and asks for too much money for such room. I think 20 Pound per night would be ok, but not around 50 to 60.
(iv) The sink was broken. It was not possible to open the water lock, so that the water could not drain.

One should carefully inspect this hotel and the general management and as a guest I would avoid it.
