We decided the stay at the Glen Eagle Manor as we had a wedding in the area.
We had orginally booked to stay in a garden room -but was called the day previous
to our arrival that our room was not available due to the previous occupants making a mess of the room, so they kindly upgraded us to another room at no extra cost.
Our room was clean and nicely presented, what I would expect of a 3* hotel.
The overall look of the hotel had a warm and welcoming feel, we had a drink at the bar which reasonably priced, we didn't have the breakfast as we were there on a room only basis. The staff were incredibly helpful, when we arrived we wanted to explore but the weather looked like it was going to rain, so reception provided us with a hotel umbrella just in-case and when we needed to get the wedding reception they booked a taxi for us which arrived promptly.
This hotel is ideally located near to the town centre and is in walking distance of supermarkets, pubs and restaurants. (highly recommend Prezzo (Italian) for food which is a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel.

At first our impressions was reasonably positive, receptionist was bright and friendly and the room was tidy clean and reasonably sized. However on returning from our night out with a friend we asked for a taxi to be called, the receptionist was most unhelpful in what we considered a usual hotel duty: He merely pointed at the phone and told us how to get an outside line, and was not forthcoming about offering us a number to call.
At roughly 5am after a reasonable nights sleep I awoke to what sounded like someone charging a death ray! I assume this is old plumbing, but it was so bad the floor was vibrating. On using the shower the hot water stopped half way through leaving me covered in shampoo, we called reception who just told us everything was working as usual, water did eventually restart but was not a pleasant experience.
Avoid if you value your sleep or a decent shower!

We wanted a cheap and cheerful stay as we were going out for dinner and then around town and that is exactly what we got. We had already read the other reviews and weren't expecting much from the rooms. But we got a lovely welcome from the receptionist when we arrived which was a very nice start and when we went up to our room she had upgraded us to a large airy room with a massive Jacuzzi bath. (Subject to availability)
Breakfast the next morning was excellent, better than some posher higher starred hotels.
Admittedly the bedrooms could probably do with being updated but overall we had a very pleasant stay, friendly staff, clean room and great breakfast.

The Glen Eagle Manor. Hotel is a typical friendly clean comfortable hotel.
The room s are always very clean, and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. You can take a drink in the bar lounge which has a cosy british home style atmosphere and you get wireless access to the Internet everywhere in the hotel (at a cost but if you come with your laptop you can use the Internet everywhere, in your room, in the bar, which is convenient).
The garden rooms overlooking the fountain are a peaceful haven of tranquility.
I have stayed here on many occassions with several colleauges and have found it a real pleasure. "thanks to all the staff who simply are fab".
