“Lovely, relaxing break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I have stayed at the Grove before and can not get enough of this hotel. We have always had amazing meals in the Glasshouse and this time was no exception. Be careful before ordering tea or coffe after the meal though as drinks are very expensive.Our room was overlooking the carpark but there was no outside noise due to the thick windows. It was very comfortable and they even offer a range of pillows, should you not like the ones in your room. There is a large flat screen TV offering a range of channels. The room was very clean and a "turn down service" is offered in the evening. Bathroom was lovely also and the toiletries offered. The breakfast buffet has a huge selection on offer and the food is exceptional.
We used the gym which was brilliant and there are staff there to help if you dont know what you're doing. My only critiscism was the pool. It was exceptionally clean and the amenities were all very good. Unfortunately, the Saturday was very busy. There were limited numbers of beds and chairs. Therefore, people were standing round the side of the pool and even having to stand in the steam room. The Sunday was a lot quieter and was a brilliant experience. Perhaps its best to avoid Saturdays.
The facilities at the hotel are faultless. There is free bike hire (plus a map of a cycle route) or walking routes and the grounds are amazing. There is a childrens club (which I was suprised to see was not complementary). I have never had to pay for a childrens club abroad. There is a childrens pool, which had hardly any chairs for parents to sit and watch their children. There was a table tennis and pool table and several other games for children.
Overall, I had an amazing time. The staff can do enough to help you and you feel like you are miles from anywhere. I would definately stay here again.

“Great location and facilities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

I booked this at the last minute from the hotel directly for £215 B&B without having time to read the reviews on Tripadvisor. I am glad I didn't because the reviews may have put me off staying at what is an excellent hotel!

I was in a basic room overlooking the car park, but it was spacious (huge king size bed), comfortable, contemporarily decorated and very clean. The bathroom was also spacious with a large bath (although if I had a criticism it would be that there was not a separate shower).

What really sets this hotel apart though is the following:
1. location - fantastic grounds set beside huge areas of forest and canal walks;
2. amazing communal areas - the Lounges and Library were the nicest public rooms I have come across in a hotel;
3. great facilities - lovely pool, well equipped gym, golf, free video games/ table football for kids, separate pool for kids, outdoor pool in the summer etc;
4. very good food - we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the Stables restaurant and our breakfast in the Glasshouse which included lots of healthy alternatives.

Even after staying less than 24 hours I felt like I'd had a very relaxing, healthy break, and would recommend this hotel to everyone.

“Top Marks (but check your bill)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Everything was lovely about our stay at the Grove apart from the weather! Not the fault of the hotel of course, we just thought the grounds looking amazing and would have loved to explore them further.

The room in the Mansion House was absolutely devine with a four poster bed and tasteful furnishings throughout (very old meets new but in a good way), sumptious modern bathroom with large roll-top bath and separate shower room.

The spa treatments we had were good from staff who were really friendly and clearly knew what they were doing.

The public rooms were absolutely beautiful and we can heartily recommend Afternoon Tea. We pigged out big time and were even given some extra sandwiches!

We were lucky enough to dine in Colette's both evenings and although cannot remember what we had, everything was absolutely delicious.

The reception staff were friendly and efficient. The bill we were presented with initially was not correct however this was resolved after we produced the confirmation documents showing prices and the young lady double checked their own records

Room Tip: The Mansion house deluxe room we stayed in was excellent.

“Hair found in food at the Glasshouse restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

I booked this hotel after weeks of research as I wanted to book a surprise for my mums 60th birthday. Most of the reviews on this website were positive but there was a negative review which had recently been posted however I decided to ignore it. The hotel itself is beautiful, reception and concierge were fantastic. We decided to eat a lunch buffet at The glasshouse which turned out to be a huge mistake. My mother found a lon hair in her food. When the restaurant manager was called he stated that as it is a buffet it could not be helped I hair fell into the food and offered us a cup of tea as way of compensation!!! I will definitely not be visiting the Grove or recommending it to anyone.

“Five star ???”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

Stayed here for one night as birthday celebration. Got good last minute deal . Location great and room very nice, spacious, nice products and very clean. Comfy bed!
Spa disappointing and not 5 star quality. Jacuzzi not working. Pool cold. No loungers available so
Nowhere to sit as was extremely busy.
Drink in glasshouse bar good. Staff friendly and helpful , in particular Luke. Had reservation for stables restaurant , arrived and offered awful table in doorway. We asked if we could take restaurant menu in bar area(about 5 yards away ) was told this was impossible. This was disappointing, especially considering that the bar food seemed to come out from the restaurant kitchen. Maybe a little short sighted!!
Staff in stables bar friendly, marc was very good
Breakfast great, lots of choice.
Beautiful grounds to walk in .

Dear Lj39,

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. Having discussed the points you have raised with the team I wish to add the following comments.

We had a temporary fault with the chlorine levels within the Jacuzzi, which I am pleased to report was swiftly addressed and is now in full working order. As I am sure you appreciated during your visit, the pool is a popular feature of our spa and I am sorry that you were unable to enjoy it fully due to the high volume of other guests during that particular point of the day.

With regard to your experience in The Stables, I understand that you arrived at 21h15 and were offered three tables in the Restaurant (in different areas) all of which you declined. Whilst we would have normally stopped serving food in the Bar at 21h00 (due to the volume of guests enjoying pre/post dinner drinks) you were offered the option of choosing main courses from the restaurant menu or your choice from the full bar menu, the latter of which you chose.

I thank you for the positive comments with regard to Luke and Marc and I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay over all. I do hope we may welcome you back in the near future.
