Been here twicel - execentric is the word i would use for the landlady - 1st time my wife and I asked for plowmans lunches and ended up with about a pound and a half of cheese each and a plate full of salad which looked as if the fridge door had been opened and just about everything tipped on the plate! We were also re-seated by the landlady who told us where to sit and also regaled us with stories about how people come in and don't pay attention to the menues and think they can sit where they like - all very strange - but i have to say we did enjoy this rather odd (sorry - very odd) experience! On the 2nd occasion we were just in the town and felt we would stop for a drink, I stood at the bar (no one else waiting to be served) with the landlady dotting backwards and forwards doing, well I'm not sure what. No exageration after over 10 minutes of just standing there at the empty bar I gave up and we just walked out. We quite literally felt as if the landlady was so engrossed she really did not want to have to serve us - very strange! This is a very odd set up and whilst i have no intention of going back I would suggest you give it a try out and judge for yourself.
