“A treasure in New Forest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We are just back from our second stay at the wonderful Wych Green Cottage, and we are already trying to plan a date for our next stay. I simply cannot rate this wonderful place highly enough. We booked the stand-alone cottage opposite the B&B, which has everything you could possibly need and is so charming. We stayed with our 2 year old and Carol and David couldn't have made it easier with safety gates and highchairs without us having to even ask. Nothing is too much trouble for them and it's wonderful that they welcome children so warmly. Other than the great hospitality, what differentiates Wych Green from other places is the abundance of local farm animals. We saw countless animals walking freely down the lane adjacent to the cottage such as ponies, sheep, donkeys, pigs, cows and even a peacock! The breakfast provided in the main house was fabulous and beautifully presented with lots of fresh fruit, cereals and a big fry up. I can't help but worry that my review will make it harder for us to get a booking!

Make sure you go to the Royal Oak in Fritham whilst there for the best Ploughman's lunch, but you need to get there at opening time of 12pm in winter as the tables fill up immediately!

“b and b worth a stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

My wife and I spent a long weekend with David and Carol in early October. We stayed in the Stable room as my wife uses a wheelchair and a stick. This could not have been better for us and we were made to feel at home from the word go. David and Carol were on hand to answer any queries you have and Dave cooks a mean breakfast. If you would like a nice quiet top of the pile B & B look no further..

“The ideal place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

We've just returned from 4 nights at Wych Green Cottage, a trip I planned for my Mum's 65th birthday to introduce her to the delights of the New Forest. We were a party of 4, travelling with a dog each and we were fortunate enough to find that David & Carol had availability for us in their pet friendly garden rooms. These were ideal for us, very comfortable and cosy and nicely equipped. Excellent power showers as mentioned by previous reviewers with complimentary bottled water each day and fresh milk provided to use with the tea and coffee making facilities.

The cottage was ideally located for us opposite Penn Common in Bramshaw where numerous animals would gather at all hours. Have previously stayed in Godshill and didn't see anywhere near the same amount of beasties. This was a real treat.

Carol and David were excellent hosts and have a lovely home which they fully welcome you into. Carol even presented my Mum with a birthday card which we thought was a v.personal touch.

Breakfasts were well presented, well cooked and plentiful with a very decent choice and yes, the homemade jams are a must -we came away with 8 jars and a dozen eggs from their hens.

Having stayed in a number of pet-friendly establishments, I can honestly say that Wych Green Cottage represents very very good value for money indeed. It is nice and centrally located for getting out and about but remote enough for you to know what you are in the heart of the National Park.

Of course there is no shortage of pubs in the area but for convenience, we ate every evening at The Green Dragon in Brook (a 5 minute drive away) and had an excellent meal each night. Dogs can accompany you in the extensive bar area and the specials menu varies daily.

Thank you Carol and David for helping make Mum's birthday trip such a success and for looking after/tolerating us so well. We would return without hesitation.
