“Comfortable, clean and an awesome Camelia tree”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

We stayed for 2 nights in room 2 on the top floor. we were greeted with a smile and shown around the ground floor by Mike, then introduced to Teresa, who took over and showed us up the stairs to our room... we ordered breakfast and were left to settle in. Mike had given us some recommendations of restaurants to visit for dinner and we walked the 5 minutes into Lyndhurst to the Thai restaurant.

Next morning at breakfast we were well fed and left for our tour of the New Forest (literally on their doorstep). On returning we had a chat with Teresa, who seemed genuinely interested in what we had done and confirmed our choices for breakfast the following morning.

After a hearty breakfast (nothing was too much trouble) we paid and left... very smooth and unfussy! Well done Mike and Teresa, you seem to have a handle on what people want, and provide it well. We even overheard othr guests saying "are you sure it's £70 per night and not £70 each? They've thought of everything!!"

Room Tip: Room 2 is at the back so off the busy main road.

“Very friendly service, beautifully kept B&B”

We stayed in Temple Lodge for 2 nights in December. The B&B is really well located - about a 5 minute walk from the centre of Lyndhurst and just opposite New Forest. We had based our decision on location versus price, and I really couldn't ask for better.

On arrival (at 10pm, so past normal check-in hours), Mike greeted us, guided us through the house and gave us our keys. We were asked to indicate what we'd like for breakfast (the options included full English breakfast, scrambled eggs with salmon and perhaps something else) and when they could expect to see us in the dining room in the morning (I think for organisational purposes).

Both the English breakfast and scrambled eggs with salmon were very good. There was a table with cereal, fruit, milk, orange juice, coffee, jams and honey that we could choose from. They also had Nutella (although I advise you to check expiration dates!).

Mike gave us great tips on what to do in Lyndhurst, including going to a local pub, the Waterloo something... It's a little hidden away so you wouldn't notice it as a tourist. The food was amazing and highly recommended.

We had to check out at 10am on Sunday (the only downside) and Mike again gave us tips on what to do that day. It was raining quite a lot, but he had suggested that we visit various villages and drive through one side of the forest which is particularly dense with very tall trees. It was really beautiful.

As a weekend break from London, I really recommend Temple Lodge.

Room Tip: We opted for a double bedroom with sofas/easy chairs but due to a last minute cancellation the owner...

“Childcare Break!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

Had been looking after grandchildren for a week so the 2 nights away at Temple Lodge was just what we needed. We received a very warm welcome from Mike & Theresa & were shown to a lovely room at the top of the house with very big bathroom. We were given recommendations for local restaurants which we took advantage of. The breakfasts were fantastic, everything was freshly prepared & we didn't need to eat again during the day! This was our first stay in the New Forest & would certainly recommend Temple Lodge & also stay again if we were in the area.

“Great B&B - would recommend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

I stayed at The Temple Lodge for 1 night in December for my birthday with my boyfriend and it was perfect. We had a superior room which was lovely and big, the bathroom is huge and the bed was very, very comfortable.

The location is great, right next to the national park and only a few minute walk into the Lyndhurst town centre. The room was at the back of the B&B so was lovely and quiet.

The owners were very friendly, and gave us a map of the local area which allowed us to go walking through the new forest and they also gave us a list of local bars and restaurants which was really useful. I would definitely recommend this B&B. It was clean, well decorated and the breakfast was great. Not sure what else you'd need.

“Beaut B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

The couple of days we enjoyed exploring the New Forrest area were made more perfect because of our very memorable stay at Temple Lodge, Lyndhurst. Our room was at the back of the house so we heard no traffic noise and we found it very comfortable and restful. Our room was very fresh and clean and beautifully decorated in blue and white. It was a large room with double bed, a 2 seater lounge chair, hanging cupboard, TV, chest of draws, small fridge and tea/coffee making facility. The ensuite was also roomy and again beautifully decorated. Each morning Mike would cook us a beautiful hot breakfast while Teresa served us all with a smile and a chat in the downstairs breakfast room. Breakfast was a full English breakfast with a wonderful fresh fruit salad, yoghurt and a choice of cereals. We would definitely stay at Temple Lodge again if we ever returned to the area.
