We enjoyed our stay and the rooms were clean and the breakfasts very good indeed. (You tick your preferred breakfast ingredients on a list which is already in your room and you leave this downstairs when completed.) The owners, Ann and Ted, are good hosts. Slight disappointments and potential disappointments for others were that the 'small' double room situated at the side of the house (booked as a single) would be very small for a couple to stay in (for more than 1 night anyway). The bedside table lamp in this room had a very low watt bulb so the main light had to be on for reading which meant getting out of bed to turn it off. The window blind had a broken end on one strip which meant the light from next door shone through onto the pillow. Although not very bright this was enough to be annoying and the 'half' curtain had to be wedged onto the window cill to block the light out. The single room does not have a bedside table so would benefit from a folding table to use at night, then fold away under the tea shelf during the day. The small lamp in this room had to be placed on the floor and was just reachable from bed with the cable at maximum stretch. The single bed is very 'firm.' All this said the house itself is very nice although it is on a very busy route into Lyndhurst. The walk into the town centre takes around 5 mintues. There is a nice area of Common land behind some mature trees directly opposite Heather House. Ask for a room at the back of house (The single room is at the back, overlooking the nice garden and traffic noise wasn't an issue here). The road is somewhat quieter at night. I would try a stay here again if I had a full size double room at the back of the house.
