We had a two night stay (87 pound per room) and we were in room 207. We couldn't sleep because of the traffic. The large lorries and vans were making the bed shake as they bounced along to stop at the traffic lights. The next night we were upgraded to room 216 at the back of the hotel and it was o.k.
The hotel staff were very nice and helpful.
The chinese restaurant accross the road was good ,big portions (need to book ,people were queuing outside waiting for tables) and the Italian restaurant down the road was also good. The waitress brought the homemade desserts round to show us and the portions were massive. (highly recommended)
The hotel is in a exellent position and we will go back again.

as we had yet another mg run booked, we decided to stay over night, due to it being my darlings birthday.

the first room we were offered had a loud hum coming from the radiator, this was quickly identified and swiftly we were moved to another room.

we had a wonderful romantic meal in the dining room, which i would throughly recommend.

all in all a wonderful break.

I have recently just paid a visit to the crown hotel with my fiancé, and I was extremely surprised to come across the unnecessary review that "Mike" has left. We live in Liverpool and come down about three to four times a year to visit family and friends and this time around we decided to stay in a hotel for our own space and after recommendation from a friend we choose the crown hotel. On arriving at the crown hotel I was amazed at the beautiful flowers surrounding the decking area and a large umbrella that is used for as the smoking area (which to my fiancés delight). Although parking was slightly on the tight side there was defiantly enough room to make sure that our car and cars around us had enough room to get out.
We arrived about 6 o’clock and where welcomed by such friendly bar staff, what was surprising and not to be rude but there was obviously an age difference between the two ladies but I were given the impression that they were good friends rather than work colleagues and this to me and my partner was very nice and welcoming.
Once we had checked into our room which on discovery yes the decor is slightly dated but ties in with the periodical feel of the hotel but the beds were comfortable and the room was very clean-what more did we need?
Once we were unpacked we decided as time was pushing on it was time to eat. Well what can we say we had a superb meal, to start we shared the combo for two. Well little did we realise the size of the Platter lets just say it was very generous. Then for mains we both had the crown hot pot- which was a special on the night but should most definitely be added to the menu! I mentioned before we had the platter for two, well imp allergic to prawns and on request to the kitchen the chef changed the king prawns to mini sausages which I was very grateful for.
As we had no plans for that evening we decided to stay in the bar and have a couple of drinks as it was a Saturday evening, and we didn’t have to be up for breakfast until 9 o’clock. At about ten o’clock the pub had died down allot and it was peaceful- well until what we discovered was Alton rugby club came in- to us they weren’t a problem as the kitchen was now closed and people were not eating and to say the least they were very amusing, not rude to the bar staff but there was a constant "banter" going back and forth which was nice as it made the feel of not only the pub but the community very appealing which nostalgically brought back childhood memories from Alton.
We stayed for another 5 nights and then had to return home. Our stay was very comfortable and pleasant and we shall be returning to the crown in the near future.

My husband and I stayed here for my birthday and loved it. Beautiful room, great service. Can't recommend it enough - will definitely be going again
