Flew from U.S for a family birthday week-end in mid-January. Very warm welcome for 4 couples at Reception. Rooms, beds & bathrooms better than 3 Star. Friendly & professional service from Bar and Restaurant staff at all times - breakfast, dinner and afternoon tea! Great quality food, especially the freshly cooked Full English Breakfast. Perfect location for taking a stroll into picturesque Lyndhurst and on good routes to access The New Forest by car. Took time to exercise in the under-used swimming pool, again the facilities were very good. Cannot speak too highly of the Staff, who made a great time absolutely perfect..........Thank you so much. (if you didn't guess, I would recommend the Forest Lodge Hotel)

Stayed for a weekend in January. We had unseasonably warm weather, so had an enjoyable break without the crowds and traffic queues of the summer. The hotel is in an excellent location, 5 mins walk into Lyndhurst, there's a large information office there with info on nearby forest walks. The room was nice - clean, well decorated with a large bed (made up of two singles together) and free WIFI. Although the walls could be a bit thicker - noisy neighbours one evening.

Breakfast was good, as were burgers in the bar one evening, followed by drinks in the lounge which had a selection of papers/magazines. Free toothbrush from reception appreciated as I managed to forget mine! The public areas were all well decorated, and pleasant to be in, we also enjoyed the pool. Service from the staff all good.

We would also recommend La Pergola Italian restaurant in Lyndhurst - 15-20 mins walk from the hotel.

We would stay here again if visiting the area.

Stayed here with friends over the weekend and had a great time. The food and service were excellent, an dthe facilities and rooms were superb. The hotel is ideally situated for walking into the forest or strolling into town. Will definately recommend this hotel if you are looking to stay in the New Forest.

The Forest Lodge Hotel in Lyndhurst is the perfect location. It is less than a 5 minute walk to the very small town and it is right opposite a field where there are grazing ponies.

The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The hotel itself is attractive outside and inside and the room we had was just perfect. It was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. I found time to use the pool, that was a very good size and had a gorgeous painting of a bluebell wood all across the back of the room. The view from the pool room is the gardens.

The food didn't disappoint. I am glad that breakfast was not a hot buffet, you were asked what you wanted and it was served, fresh. Although you could also help yourself to cereal, fruit etc. In the evening the dinner was a very good standard. We ate in the hotel both nights as the restaurant far exceeded the quality that we had seen in the town.

There is plenty of parking too. We used the hotel as a base to visit the rest of the New Forest, it is the ideal location.

If you are there on a nice day, go along the lane next to the hotel, there is a gorgeous little country pub with a huge garden.
