“Very welcoming and accomodating”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

My fiancee and I stayed here just for one night in August 2011 as we were going to a wedding nearby.

The house itself is wonderful with lovely grounds.

Poppy and Ken are extrememely friendly and accomdation from the tea and cake on arrival to the lift to the wedding venue when we couldn't get a cab!

The rooms are very pleasant and the breakfast was fab.

Location is also great as very close to Romsey, Winchester, Southampton and the new forest.

All in all a very enjoyable experience and I hope to return very soon!

“Real home from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

Everything you needed was on hand to make you feel at home, from books to read to a pumice stone in the bathroom. The grounds were delightful and I wish we'd had more time to explore, but we did have time to make friends with Ralphie the adorable dog! It was very peaceful and I have never slept in such a high bed! Breakfast was delicious and no baked beans thank goodness! Cab fare into Romsey was a fiver with a tip but be warned to book the return at the same time as Romsey is virtually shut by 11pm! The Thai is excellent and very popular.

“Most friendly hosts ever. Shame about Bigfoot and Nellie next door!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

We stayed here for a couple of nights and although the price was high for B+B it really is the bees knees. Quiet, peaceful grounds with swing and treehouse for the kids and coffee and cakes regularly supplied. The most friendly hosts you could ask for, nothing was too much trouble. Cooked breakfast was ginormous plus loads of fresh fruit etc. If we return though we will ask for the room 1 at the front of the house as rooms 2 & 3 are next to each other. We had Nellie the Elephant and Bigfoot staying in the room beside us. They came in well after midnight and proceeded to bump, rattle and knock everything they could find in their room. But obviously this is not the hosts fault, they were just an unthoughtful young couple of guests.

“Everything we could have wanted ...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2011

We stayed here with our 2 year old daughter as we wanted to visit Peppa Pig World at the nearby Paulton's Park. We prefer smaller B and B's to large hotels and certainly were not disappointed with our choice. On arrival we were greeted with tea and cakes and a large box of toys with which our little girl was delighted. The beautiful grounds also revealed a tree house, swing and friendly little dog which again were perfect for us, but for those wanting some peace and quiet, there was also the possibility of a stroll in these lovely grounds. Although we did not eat dinner with our fabulous hostess, Polly, the food smelled lovely and I believe dinner is possible if requested in advance. Our room was well appointed and comfortable with a lovely en-suite with both bath and shower. When we put our little girl down to sleep, we were able to retire to the guests lounge to relax and enjoy the evening, with Polly appearing to offer us a drink before leaving us to our own company. We slept well and breakfast was lovely, with a nice selection of fruit and cereals as well as a cooked breakfast. All in all, we truly could not have been more pleased with our stay, nothing was too much trouble and Polly made us feel very much at home, even with a very curious 2 year old who might not have been welcome elsewhere! I would not hesitate to recommend and we hope very much to return as Peppa Pig world also proved a massive hit!!

“A Little Gem on the edge of the New Forest”

As mentioned by previous reviewers Highfield House B&B is set in 7 acres of gardens and woodland. It is in a quiet lane off the main roads but only a few hundred yards from Dunwood Manor Golf Course. The very friendly welcome with tea and cakes relaxed us nicely after our drive. The house is spotless throughout and there was little to fault. Two local pubs were recommended for dinner and we ate well at one of them. Afterwards we had a quiet walk round the grounds before turning in. Breakfast was delicious including fresh pineapple and local strawberries. I'm sure nobody who tries it will be disappointed.
