“a piece of old england”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I have stayed at this hotel many times now on business and have always found it to be charming. Yes it is a little tired in parts but is does have masses of character with whispers of times gone by in each hallway. The food seems to have gone down a little in recent times so not sure if they have a new chef, but still ok. The staff are always very helpful and accommodating. Rooms are comfortable, would recommend main house. The grounds are stunning and well kept.

We held a two day conference and our every needs were taken care of efficiently and without fuss, would definitely use again.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms are a long trek down winding corridors with no lift at the hotel this can be quite...

“Impressive property and settings - average service and rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

I stayed here for a friend's wedding and found the place to be a truly enchanting venue for such event. The main house is beautifully kept and the grounds manicured - it even has its own little church.
However, it feels as if they are resting on their historic heritage and doing little to maintain standards.
The hotel seems to be used mainly for business purposes during the week (and weddings at weekends) so it has a feeling of standard corporate hotel/boarding school with little charm.
Our room was in an annexe just opposite the main house (above meeting rooms called Syndicate) and it was pretty basic and in need of a refresh. The bathroom looked like my grannie's back in the 80s.
And it was BOILING! the whole place was far too hot!

I went to the Elvetham Hotel for a Christmas Party Jan 2012- and I have got to say the whole evening was 100% - the room was very nice and comfortable and clean - the food amazing and the disco was 100% - the bar staff and waitresses were very efficient and I would truely recommend this Elvetham Hotel to anyone - very romantic also.

“Great hotel, great location, lovely grounds and helpful staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

From the electric gates, to the sweeping drive and covered carriage drop off the first impressions of the hotel are excellent.

The rest of our stay was of equally high standard, friendly staff could not do enough to help us all.

The rooms in the old hotel were excellent and the whole hotel was warm and cosy, which is not always the case in big old houses.

The children were made welcome and encouraged to explore versus being penned into a single room.

Lovely grounds and great food made this a really enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the old house vs new wing and make used you use the drive through reception and va...
