“Excellent luxury countryside retreat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Pure luxury in the countryside, but still easy distance from London. The pool and spa are fantastic, very clean and great to see that there are family and quiet hours.
Rooms are well appointed, spacious while keeping s stylish, traditional decor.
Service is excellent. We stayed there for a birthday celebration week end. From the valet parking the minute we arrived, we were welcomed by our names and congratulated on the birthday.
Nice touch for kids in the bathroom to have your kid name made in bath sponge.

The restaurant food was good but nothing special, which was a bit of a disappointment in such a great hotel. We were expecting more there and not dinner was really not good value fr money.
Breakfast was top.

“Countryside Luxury At It's Best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

I have just returned from a 6 night stay at the Four Seasons Hotel. The hotel is set in a countryside location seemingly miles from anywhere but actually within 15 minutes of the M3 motorway (junction 5) for easy access to the M25 and Heathrow or Gatwick Airports.

Car parking is located a short walk from the main hotel entrance so I would suggest driving to right outside the front door of the hotel and dropping off luggage and then parking or asking for valet parking.

On arrival, I was greeted by the staff at the front door who offered to take my luggage. Check-in was fast, friendly, and accurate. I was shown to my room which was a standard room but was huge and luxurious. The bedroom was clean and had plenty of space, a large comfortable bed, and a big flat screen TV with a large selection of English TV and radio services. The bathroom was completely clad in marble and also had plenty of space, a wet room shower area, and lots of complimentary toiletries.

The bar and restaurant is located on the Lower Ground level of the hotel. The breakfast at the Four Seasons is in my opinion one of the best selections I have ever been presented with. The options available are vast. On my visit, breakfast was buffet style self-service with special orders able to be requested. Both restaurant and bar have plenty of friendly and professional staff who seem to thrive on being attentive and knowledgeable.

Although I did not have time to experience the leisure facilities, I understand that there is swimming and spa options available together with plenty of outdoor activities.

My overall impression of the Four Seasons is of an English country retreat operated by a very slick and impressive hotel operation with highly professional staff who take a pride in everything that they do. Nothing is too much trouble and guests are made to feel like the most important people in the whole establishment. I would certainly recommend this hotel to friends and colleagues.

Room Tip: Drop luggage at the front door before parking. Ask for either an internal view or a external view. E...

“Luxury in the countryside”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

The Four Seasons Hampshire delivers exactly what it promises, a luxury countryside break just an hour from London.
The setting is beautiful, with large open grounds, fishing lake and walks along a peaceful canal. The hotel is spacious, with different wings and buildings linked by airy covered walkways which were great versus normal hotel corridors - letting you get some light without the cold of a English January! Food and drink in the restaurants were very good, although expensive (as you would expect at this type of hotel) and they fill up at the weekends and we had to rely on a cancellation to get a table.
Service throughout the hotel was friendly, helpful and attentive, which the odd mistake did not diminish.
Facilities were high quality, the spa and pool area was well designed and immaculate and there were plenty of bikes were available to borrow for free - which is a pleasant change in a place which puts an eye watering price on most things!
There are also some further nice touches, like a resident dog which makes it feel like a bit like you are staying at a grand country house.
Thoroughly recommended as a place for a short romantic break or a way to see a bit of English countryside as a quick trip out when visiting London.

“Lovely Hotel, Top of Range Pricing, Beautiful Rooms, Watch out for a few catches”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We stayed here for my husbands birthday Feb 2012, the hotel is beautiful, the grounds excellent. We booked a room with a view of the estate - and as it had snowed the view was stunning. The room was well appointed but was let down by a few minor details. The padded stool at the end of the bed was dirty (marked perhaps by suitcase wheels) and the loo when flushed made a racket when refilling. I was also disappointed to see the hotel charged the room PLUS VAT, so the room rate quoted looks better value on the web site. That (I have found) is unusual and hence felt a little odd.
Breakfast in the room was a delight - if you want a romantic breakfast order "The Hampshire" in your room. At £26 per person it is expensive but the English breakfast was excellent and the bread basket enough to keep us going throughout the morning.
Dinner - we ate in the Seasons restaurant but had the Bistro menu becuase there was no room in the Bistro. We found the Bistro menu disappointing and limited for a Bistro and though the food was very good it seemed somehow not Bistro Food but a little too "posh for its own good". This might be becuase we expect a Bistro to be good quality food at reasonable (perhaps a little high) prices but not too fancy that you feel it is all presentation. The steak I had was excellent quality but the price was restaurant not Bistro. My husband had a burger which he said was good - but not as good as some - and again price was restaurant not Bistro. We shared the Cheese Board - nice presentation and good cheese but at £12 is more restaurant than Bistro pricing. Sometimes you don't want a full fancy meal but a good quality meal with a few choices to suit ones hunger levels.
When the hotel is far away from any other food loction you can imagine they have a captive audience - and when it is a high * establishment you do expect quality - but I think this meant the Bistro fare was too formal and lacked the enjoyment that good Bistro food can have.
The staff were friendly and a big thanks to the snow plough man who ploughed the roads in and around the hotel so we could leave on time.

Room Tip: Pay a little more for a room in the main house to get the slendour of the room height and the view o...
