“Ideal for Salford stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Stayed here due to convenience for family visit. Unable to upgrade to executive room as previous visit and finally negotiated two glasses of free wine at the bar due to ambassador status.
Room was the same as last visit and quite comfortable, quiet and warm.
Breakfast fine but as usual the hot food is luke warm and looks like it has been sitting around for ages despite there being only the odd person sittind down to eat.
Paying for car parking is still a real pain. Having stayed the previous night at Holiday Inn Express Salford Quays, this is probably a better option if you have your own transport.

Room Tip: Ask for top floor at the back of the hotel

“Poor location, £5.00 parking fee a rip off”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012 via mobile

This hotel is located in a run down industrial area. You couldn't really walk any where - there isn't really any where to walk to! It is sold as being close to the city centre - it's not. They have got a cheek charging £5.00 to park here, the only explanation can be that they are exploiting customers who would not want to park in the surrounding area!

The rooms are very small and not very clean. In fact there was a stain on the hall carpet which ran the full length of the corridor! In the room the shower curtain was stained and the cleaning was not up to the standard you expect from Holiday Inn.

It appears they may have taken this hotel over but for many reasons it would have fitted better in the Express brand. Even then it would have needed a good clean.

On a positive note there was an ice machine near the lift - that's the only positive thing I can say about this hotel.

“Affordable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

Spent one night here on a tour of manchester. i liked the hotel room and the staff were very helpful when we needed to get directions on sites to tour or in getting a cab. the heating of the room was the best so was the shower but it could do with better cleaning while they should refill the shampoo dispensers before a new guest checks in. one disadvantage about the location of hotel is that there are no public means available so you either walk for about 20 minutes to catch the nearest which is not interesting during a windy winter or catch a taxi. so for those who want to be where there the action is advise to get one within the city centre. did not eat at the hotel but first timers should try Red Hot Chili, next to Arndale Shopping centre for world buffet experience

“disappointing stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

Booked this hotel through "Just One Hotel"We paid £74 for the room. The receptionist told us breakfast was included. When we went down for breakfast we were totally embarrassed by the waitress who caused a fuss in front of other guests by demanding£13.75 each!!!! for breakfast.Needless to say we declined breakfast.Went back to our room and were phoned by the manager... not to apologise for us being embarrassed but to confirm the waitress was right. On checkout we were charged £5 for parking. On top of this we were ripped off by 2 taxi drivers who took the long way round to the MEN Arena.Don't stay here there must be better places who don't charge £13.75 for coffee and toast!
