“Living in the 60s”

Come back in time,I booked 2 Rooms for the Once in a lifetime visit to Manchester for the Manchester United Football Match, against Liverpool February 11 2012.

The rooms can be best described at best as 4 Star 1960 s style,in fact that is probably the last time the rooms had a refurb. The carpets are threadbare, the television is an antique.I stay in hotels all around the World,(next week Kuala Lumpur,Bangkok,Chang Mai) All over the Uk. Obviously your revenue is dependent on Manchester United football games. Do not stay here unless you are very Desparate. Manchester has lots of Stylish hotels to offer at better Rates.

I have been in Business travel for 25 Years and this is the worst Value for a lot of money I have ever experienced

“Nice enough Hotel, pretty much what I expected.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Stayed for 2 nights for a work meeting nearby, check in was a little slow, but the Hotel was busy when I arrived. Room was clean and comfortable, a little dated but nice bed, good shower, a little worn in places but what you'd expect from this type of Hotel. Breakfast was very good, good selection, friendly staff, good quality. My only gripes were, my room must of been located above the kitchen, I could hear the staff preparing things, banging pans etc about 6 each morning, didn't bother me too much as I was getting up fairly early anyway, the 2 lifts can take forever to get you down stairs, I was on floor 2 and on 2 occasions I waited at least 5 mins, I could hear them going up and down with people in but they weren't stopping, maybe because they were full? There doesn't seem to be any stairs near the lifts either?

Room Tip: Don't choose room 244, it's above the Kitchen, a bit noisy and the views out of the window a...

“For Football Sake”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I arrived at Copthorne Hotel Manchester before the available check-in time and could not check in yet.

My purpose was to catch a weekend game at Old Trafford, Manchester United FC. The stay was alright, twin bed rooms were full although I requested for it when booking a room. Shampoo and shower foam quality are poor, so I suggest you bring your own.

Located away from the City though, one has to take the tram to get to the city. It's about a 10-15 minutes tram ride.

“One night stay for interview”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Check in was friendly and quick - Twin room booked and provided (room 237). Comfortable beds and whilst not palacial the room was totally adequate for our needs especially having booked for a reasonable price with Laterooms. Shower was hot and had good pressure. The only down side was that like most mid-range hotels that sound-deadening wasn't brilliant once other guests were up and about. As our stay was mid week the hotel might have had proportionally more early risers. Full breakfast was very pleasant with egg-chef station to prepare freshly fried eggs when wanted. Waitress was efficient and friendly. Dining room looks out over the Quays which is nice. Checkout was painless as the computer was down! Reception staff offered helpful onward travel advice. Plenty of free parking and very close to Man Utd ground, Imperial war museum & cricket ground.

Room Tip: If your stay is more than one night then it would be good to specify a room on an upper floor on the...

“Ideal for business/football”

Stayed for 3 nights whilst on a training course.
Good deal for BB with parking and training centre within walking distance.
Very convenient for Man Utd FC and Salford Quays - shopping/Lowry Theater, 5 mins (back way) to Trafford Centre and a tram stop outside to take you to town.
Room upgrade to overlook the rear water-ways nice and quiet and clean, room service very good too, if a bit limited in choice.

Room Tip: get one at the back to avoid early traffic noise.
