“Great deal with Telegraph”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We only paid £20 for the evning with a special offer through the Telegraph. We paid extra for the breakfast as a treat. It is very close to Old Trafford, if you like Man U! We went to The Lowry Centre which was very interesting.

Getting around is easy as there is a tram close by.

The rooms were modern, clean and warm, the higher floors have the better views!

Unlike other reviewers, I really enjoyed my breakfast, the waitress was very pleasant and even though very busy was always approachable ( a young blonde girl - I meant to get her name as it is nice when people show that they want you to enjoy your time with them), but then I dont drink decaff.

We didnt eat in the restaurant, we just went over the road to Frankie and Bennies.

Overall a really pleasant night away at a very cheap price - paying just £20 didnt reduce the service we got!

We are staying at The ramada in the Docklands on the same offer in March - hope our stay is as memorable :)

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor with a view of the quay

“A well-appointed, comfortable room”

I chose the Ramada because of a very special rate offered via the Telegraph newspaper. And Salford Quays as a destination in order to explore the Quays and see what was there.
By the time we arrived all the hotel parking spaces were taken but we paid for secure parking 1/2 mile away. It was worth it not to be worried about getting a ticket. The next morning we moved the car to the hotel car park for our 2nd night.
It is easy to walk to the Quays. The Lowry Centre and War Museum are about 1/2 mile away. But we spent the day wandering and taking it all in. I just wanted to see what it was all about. We went back in the evening when it was all lit up too. The 2nd day we went to the Lowry Centre and did a bit of shopping.
We had a room right by the lift but we didn't hear anyone moving around the corridors. A very comfortable room, well furnished, excellent views. Very relaxing. The staff were very helpful.

Room Tip: Higher rooms at the front of the hotel offer excellent views of the Quays.

“First impressions stick!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

A winter weekend break at Ramada Manchester Salford Quays was enjoyable - if a little cool! On arrival the receptionist was distinctly cool and brusque, almost to the point of rudeness, which, as reception is the first point of contact, is a distinctly bad first impression. However, most of the other staff were pleasant and helpful, particularly our waitress on our first evening venture into the restaurant, and our young waiter at breakfast the following morning. Our evening meal was good, but breakfast, as already has been commented on in a previous review, was just average - it would have been good to have had eggs freshly cooked, instead of laying on a greasy tray looking sad and unappetising. There was no chef to be seen to request this from, however.

Talking of cool, the lobby area, which extends into the bar on one side and the restaurant on the other and is a through walkway from one side of the hotel to the other, leaves a lot to be desired. It was a cold and very windy weekend outside, and this was mirrored in the lobby inside! It was very blustery whenever anyone came in through either door and of course the cold air then swept into the surrounding areas - not the warm and cosy atmosphere which one would like to sample in winter. Having said all that, the bedrooms were warm and clean, with the typical well-known "narrow" lay out of a business hotel room.

This hotel is ideally situated to visit Salford Quays, which too is well worth a trip if you haven't been. It is unfortunate, however, that first impressions do stick, and ours was one of a very indifferent unsmiling welcome on our arrival - if "welcome" is the word to use here - were we really welcome?

“Enjoyable pre Christmas mini break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Had a very pleasant two night stay at this hotel on a special deal. Glad we managed to get one of the two remaining car park spaces (limited onsite parking shared with hotel next door), after long journey due to snow. Parking charge £5 per night, OK given the convenience. Asked for a high floor room and were allocated to the top floor with super views over the Quays. Good modern room with plenty of space and nice bathroom.

Breakfast provided a good choice of cereals and hot food items and staff were pleasant and helpful. Good metro links into town with Salford Quay (Eccles Line) station opposite hotel and Exchange Quay station around the corner.

Nice stroll to The Lowry and Imperial War Museum approx 10-15 minute walk.

Speedy check in/out - all in all a nice weekend break away from the usual pre Christmas rush.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the Quays, not the Car Park.

“Excellent for the price we paid”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

My other half and I wanted to go away for the weekend for our birthdays.

I saw this hotel on a comparison website and thought it was a very good price for a 4 star hotel - £56

I thought that this was a good base to the weekend after spending a substantial amount of time in manchester 5 years ago over a 3 year period.

We were planning to visit the Lowry due to the LS Lowry exhibit plus one of my favourite artists Adolphe Vallette.

This was a good base with excellent links to the centre (Salford Quays tram stop is across the road) and is within close proximity to Old Trafford, Imperial War Museum and The Lowry.

The bed was extremely comfy and my other half said she had not slept that good in ages.

Only negative I would say that there was a stain on the carpet floor and I would imagine that they should have cleaned this more thororughly.

I wouldnt paid the full price for this hotel but if you can obtain a night or 2 for the price I paid a night (Similar to a travelodge!) it is well worth it

Room Tip: We had a room over looking the car park. Not that nicer view but was quiet
