“The perfect Cotswold retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Lower brook House should be on the top of everybody's list of places to stay. Whether you are seeking a romantic weekend away or a family break I can assure you that you will be met with a very warm welcome from the owners Anna and Julian where nothing will be too much trouble.
We have stayed on many occasions and have sampled most of the hotels unique bedrooms. The bedrooms are absolutely stunning and there has been a huge amount of attention to detail with the design of each one. I could not really say which my favourite room is as they are all so different. We stayed in Colbrook on our last visit and this is a gorgeous room with a very luxurious feel and massive bathroom.
The restaurant offers excellent home-made food with a good variety of traditional as well as more unique menu choices, and yet again attention to detail is first class. Make sure you enjoy a drink in the beautiful lounge at some point during your stay..
This hotel offers peace, tranquillity and the opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy a well deserved break.

“Perfect to wind down!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

This stay was a last minute booking by my husband as a treat at the end of a long term at school...my 'fantasy' was log fires, peace and quiet, and a 'whirl-pool' bath, and he really came up trumps with this gorgeous place. The welcome from Anna was so friendly it felt as though we were visiting old family friends...but at the same time we were given plenty of space to relax in front of the lovely open log fire. Blockley is a real English Cotswold village, with two pubs, a community run post-office/coffee shop, a stream...etc; perfect for what we wanted for an over night stop. The christmas atmosphere was definetly in evidence...from the tree on the church tower (yes! on the tower...no idea how they get it there, but apparently it is a tradition), the light covering of snow, the visit from the local brass band and carol singers, the mulled wine....frankly I feel as though I have been on the film set of a 'perfect christmas'. Julian and Anna are wonderful hosts, the breakfast (as many people have said) was delicious. I would definetely visit again.

Room Tip: We stayed in the 'Westmacote' room, lovely view over the garden, stone mullion windows, supe...

“Country getaway in beautiful village”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

We spent one night at Lower Brook House after a day at the races in Cheltenham. The hotel is charming with a lot of attention to detail.

We had a great evening meal in the restaurant and can't praise the breakfast enough!

We stayed in Daddy Lowe which was immaculately clean room with king size bed and a good shower. The decor is a little 'chintz' but that adds to the individual charm of the room. Only criticism would be the TV was incredibly small and could do with upgrading, as there is little to do in Blockley in the evening it is the ideal place to relax and watch a film after dinner.

Would definitely recommend for it's character, food and the charming village experience. It is a little expensive but worth it if you are looking for a more unique Cotswold experience off the usual tourist route.

Room Tip: Call ahead to ask about the room size and facilities so you know what to expect.

“Very expensive”

Can't fault the place itself but at £170 for b & b it was very expensive for what it was.
