“A comfortable place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

We stayed for 3 nights in September and found Arreton House to be a great and convenient base to explore the Cotswolds. There is a very relaxed feel to the old house and our hosts John and Gloria made us feel right at home.

Our room was small but thats to be expected in a B&B but we did find that the ensuite was tiny. Still, the view from the room was beautiful, overlooking the village through the trees with no sound except for the birds and the squirrels. Plenty of them scurrying about the lawn area.

Breakfast was very good and filling and the whole house is thoughtfully decorated and with a great cosy feel. Plenty of offstreet parking as well.

Blockley is a bigger village than you would expect but it was so quiet and we didnt hear any noise at all.The house is located in a quiet street in the village with a pub directly across the road. Very convenient with great food and cold beer.

We would love to come back to Arreton House should we get to the Cotswolds next trip. Thanks Gloria and John for your hospitality.

“Great Host's & beautiful house”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

As a family we took over all the rooms in the guest house, the stable room & also the self catering cottage. All rooms were spotlessly clean and the host's John & Gloria could not have been more helpful.
The house is in a perfect location for getting out and about in the Cotswolds, and with a pub at the end of the very short driveway what more could you ask for!!!

“"Home from Home we will be back"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

Stayed in 2 bedroom cottage for a week. A real home from home with great welcome hamper. Very comfortable had log fire as weather was wet but enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to experience the real Cotswolds. The village is very quiet and central to all surrounding villages such as Broadway and Broughton On The Water.
We will be back.( If there was anything to improve it would be the washing machine/ dryer which you need coming from overseas as we did with wet weather needed better drying)

Room Tip: The bedrooms up steep stairs so not suitable for wheelchairs

“Comfortble room, great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2011

My husband and I stayed here for three nights. We loved our room. We had the four poster room, the "north wick". The bed was very soft and comfortable and the view from our large bank of windows wS so peaceful and lovely. We appreciated the little amenities that Gloria and John provided, like the kit kats during our tea. The breakfast was delicious and filling all three mornings. Overall a great value in an adorable and beautiful village. Thanks John and Gloria!

“Couldn't have been better!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2011

I stayed at the Arreton, with two friends, this past June and we thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay. (We were, in fact, very grateful for the accommodation as we made the reservation the same day we spent the night. Since they were fully booked for the rest of the weekend Gloria graciously called around for local lodging on our behalf - eventually hooking us up with her friend's B&B a few towns away.)

Our room, which slept three and included the four-poster bed mentioned in a previous review, was clean, well-appointed, comfortable, had a long window with a lovely view, and even included a tea pot and cookies which we enjoyed! An historic pub, with excellent fish & chips, was conveniently right across the street especially since we arrived late on a Friday night.

A fantastic, full English breakfast was served the next morning (makes my mouth water just thinking about it!) in their lovely entry room which was warmly and beautifully decorated... bright with sunshine streaming in from the garden and patio just outside the door. All the other guests we met that morning were equally pleased with their breakfast and overall experience. (One was a tour guide who regularly stays there while his group lodges someplace else!)

In short, Gloria and her husband were as sweet as could be and provided a lovely, very comfortable, affordable, and beautiful B&B experience! I would go back in a heartbeat and have no reservations in making the recommendation of "excellent"!
