“Excellent Hotel with courteous helpful staff and good food in the Bakers Arms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

This hotel is well deserving of its high rating on Trip Advisor. I booked this hotel as a base for 6 of us attending a wedding in North East London. The staff were courteous, very helpful and friendly. Room was spotless, comfortable and spacious with instruction on how to adjust the heat in the room simple and clear. Some of our party arrived early and the manager was very accommodating in ensuring they had rooms ready 2.5 hours earlier than normal and ensured we all had rooms close to each other. Nice location with nice walks nearby in Gunpowder Park and Lee Valle Park. To get the best of the location you would really require transport. Good choice of breakfast in the Bakers Arms across the car park, which also served excellent meals. The Bakers Arms staff were also courteous very helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again and would have no hesitation in recommending it to friends.

The only real downsides were the short duration time for breakfast: 7am to 9am mid week and 8am to 10am. The long timer duration of the bathroom fan (ours stayed on for over 20 minutes after the bathroom lights were switched off and was a bit intrusive at night when going to sleep). Only other issue was the smokers outside the front door of the building meant you had to keep the windows in the rooms nearest the front door closed to prevent the sound of smokers laughing and smoke filtering into the room.

“Great hotel, lovely staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

We stayed here for our wedding night along with some of our family and friends. Every member of staff we met was lovely and helpful, room great, bed massive, quiet, breakfast good. Especial thanks to Zoe who helped my cousin decorate our room with glitter, balloons etc and even gave us a card. Highly recommended!

“Accomodation excellent, Bakers arms.......a different story”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

The accommodation side of things represents the best of Premier Inn. Does what it says it will and if you don't agree you don't pay. (I paid!)

My room was very pleasant, quiet clean and in good order. Got a great nights sleep.
Staff cheerful, friendly and helpful without being ott.

The Bakers arms however was average for food during the evening (fish and chips, nothing difficult), cask ale very nice and well kept, barman helpful and friendly. However that was the best it achieved. Breakfast was very poor. Disorganised , no structure . Juice, coffee, milk etc was left un replenished and took several requests from several customers to be replenished which took approx 15 minutes.Cooked breakfast was cold ( beans were "as from the tin" ). I tasted a small amount of each item on the plate none were acceptable. When i returned the food requesting a replacement the plateful was returned to me after i had sampled it after about a minute presumably microwaved and had achieved lukewarm status.

The sole member of staff working out front was clearly disorganised and overworked. I would qualify this by pointing out when I was in there for breakfast the place was not busy, just badly ran/managed.

I appreciate I may have eaten there on an off day but that's more the pity as the accommodation side of the business as stated above was excellent and they have propped up the Bakers arms to keep the overall rating as V good. Sort out the food and the site overall would easily make the full five dots/excellent level.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review your stay. We really do appreciate any feedback, positive and negative. I will pass your comments about The Bakers Arms to the General Manager who I am sure will investigate the matter further, I apologise on their behalf and hope this did not ruin your stay at The Premier Inn Waltham Abbey.

“just what the doctor ordered good bed and a peaceful night sleep”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

I was in the premier inn due to business. I was not expecting too much but was very happy with the food and the comfort of the bed.
I was able to sleep well and the tempreture was not too hot as it is in some.
Would recommend this Premier Inn at Waltham Abbey
