“All good”

Selected this hotel as we were looking for somewhere we could get into London easily without paying central London hotel prices.
Hotel is a hundred yards off j26 pf the M25.
Immediate area is not exactly picturesque but there is some nice countryside and small villages quite close. Epping which has a small but nice high street is only 15 mins one way and Loughton 15 mins the opposite direction.
We caught the tube from Loughton (central line) ....parked in the station car park (£4.50 all day) and purchased a day saver rail ticket for £8pp. 40 mins later with no changes we were at Bond Street tube station and straight out onto Oxford Street...(went through Stratford on the way where new Westfield shopping centre is just across the road)
Caught a later evening train back after a full day & dinner....very easy.
Hotel itself has all the facilities you would expect for 4* and staff were friendly and efficient.
Room was a good size....quiet....and very clean.....Marriott beds v comfy :-)
We had breakfast in the thyme restaurant and good selection...cereal...bakery...hot selection juice & good coffee. Other half ordered boiled eggs......and server came to check if to her liking and offered if not quite right just let her know and ask chef to do some more....nice service.
I guess this location and hotel type is mainly a business hotel......and indeed one of the big high street banks had quite a crowd there on the day we left.....but seemed to be handling it ok....but worth considering if you fancy having a look around this part of the country and maybe a day trip into London.

“Comfortable- very helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

The room was a good size comfortable & clean. It was also nice & quiet, so we had a very restful nights sleep.
The breakfast buffet was excellent with both hot & cold English & continental breakfast.
Lovely stay.

“Comfortable business class hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

Just stayed 1 night for the bed (literally!) arriving at 23:00 and leaving at 09:00.

A comfortable bed and room with good quality amentities and friendly staff.

My one criticism (and this is one common to a lot of hotels) is the noisy door closing on the bedroom doors. They are sprung so heavily and the latch neeis very noisy that when the early birds go for breakfast at 06:30, they wake everyone else on the corridor with their door slaming behind them (not their fault, there's just no way to shut these doors quietly). I wish someone would make hotel bedroom doors close quietly!

Sorry, not much of a review. A peerfectly fine hotel if you need to stay in this area.

“New leisure club manager Deren has made great improvements”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

I use the gym and pool regularly. New manager Deren has made great improvements and should be commended for sorting things out which had slipped by the wayside over the years.

There is a nice buzz in the hotel seated area and snack food and Costa coffee can be bought - at a BIG price mind you.
