“amazing hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

i stayed here in the month of feb and just loved my stay the hotel has a huge parking area and located on the east but very convinient to get around to central. th staff were very helpful and seem to know there whereabout and very eager to assist.
my roomwas one of the superior and very spacious enough though the breakfast could do with a bit of improvement.
Epping tower is only ten minutes away and hence london town is only half an hour journey.

Room Tip: try superior rooms on the ground floor much better than standarad

“Not Good”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

I have stayed at this hotel twice..on both occasions I was prebooked by a friend who lives locally... On both occasions I have had to move rooms as in both...THE BED HAD HAIRS IN IT and in one room the bed sheets not only had hairs in them but was marked with like a footprint... the standard of cleanliness in the bathrooms were poor, again not cleaned to a good standard and the food...was really NOT GOOD. And breakfast...TERRIBLE!
On complaining ( very politely ) about the first room on this second visit... I was moved...this room wasn't any cleaner... so again I was moved... I explained I'd had these issues the last time I stayed at The Bell ... Firstly I was asked...so why come back? then I was told..."well don't come again...simple"
Trust me...I wont from choice ever go back.... First time could have been a one off but the second visit just two weeks ago was as bad if not worse and the staff's attitude left me reeling. It's hard to tell people who are kind enough to prebook a hotel for you just how bad the hotel of their choice really is but I have to do it... This Hotel is NOT GOOD

Room Tip: check your sheets and bedding...are they clean?

“overnight stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

this hotel sold me an executive room. Well i dont know what kind of executives these were built for. They were shabby, with poor facilities and terrible linen..The curtains were broke and didnt pull. The room only had one towel and when we eventually got more than one towel the towels resembled sheets of sandpaper. Really disapointing...We complianed on the day and afterwards without any joy..They really dont care..Next time i stay in the area i will use the premier inn up the road, its much better..And lastly the bed was like a board, couldnt sleep in it and bathroom smelt damp.

Room Tip: Dont bother

“Dated and feels like no one cares about it”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

Receptionist not that friendly, looked knackered!
Really needs a makeover. Very tired and dated.
Room smelt of cigarettes and there was even a lighter on the windowsill!
Room very warm, bed not that confortable. 4 chairs in one room maybe a little over the top, some had burn marks on.
Bath had chips in, as did the sink.
Breakfast included in room rate otherwise don't bother! Basic offerings and hardly worth having a printed menu for a full English. Cracked windows in dining room.
Signs said doors were locked to room areas after 7pm, but we had not issue getting around anywhere - secure?

“Average hotel”

My room was large and cold, I had the heating on but this did not help. The room was clean and smart, not particularly cosy though probably due to it's large size. Everything I needed was there and I had a pleasant stay.
