Stayed here over the Jubilee weekend, reception staff were cheerful and genuinely seemed interested in ensuring that everything goes smoothly with your stay, pointing out the way to the seafront and local attractions along with good local restaurants. The room itself was fine, agree with other reviewers that they are slightly bland to look at but for £35 per night i really wasn't expecting the Ritz and i consider this a fair price for this type of accomodation. The room had a double bed, flat screen television, tea and coffee making facilities and plenty of clothes hangers, my only gripe about the room would be the poor quality mattress which had more lumps and bumps in it than a few and squeaked every time that you moved and the poor quality pillows which were so thin that you had to stack at least 3 of them on top of each other to get to sleep.
Although the hotel doesn't offer breakfast, on the ground floor is Jacks Diner, a privately run establishment which offers excellent cooked food in pleasant surroundings and is to be highly recommended.
The hotel does not offer parking, their is a pay and display over the road or free parking can be found in several of the quiet side roads near to the hotel.
All in all i feel we got exactly what we paid for and would have no hesitation in stopping here again next time we are in Clacton
