“Well above par. A relaxing break.”
We booked a 4 night weekday break at Dale Hill as we wanted to visit a number of gardens and historic homes in the area. During the week the hotel is quiet which is what we wanted. We booked, after reading the reviews, by phoning the hotel and were offered the Wine Dine and Stay Free package with an upgrade to a suite overlooking the golf course. For £100 a night we got the suite, breakfast, a la carte three course evening meal (with coffee and home made chocolates) and drinks for the two of us.
The suite was lovely - bedroom, lounge and bathroom. Both bedroom and lounge had patio doors opening onto golf course and there were TVs in both rooms. The bathroom was a good size and had a bath and separate shower.
The staff were excellent. Everyone was so friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The food was delicious. There was a great selection and it was very well presented. The deserts are to die for. The restaurant is on the first floor and overlooks one of the 18th green (there are two courses). The comfortable bar area, on the ground floor, also looks out onto the 18th green, has an outdoor seating area and stocks a local real ale. We are not golfers but we didn't feel out of place and appreciated the great views.
The only negative aspect was the pool, sauna and fitness area, which, as has been mentioned in other reviews, is in need of some refurbishment. This did not bother us at all as we didn't particularly want to use them.
We felt that this welcoming hotel provided excellent value and was exactly what we needed for a relaxing break.
Room Tip: Phone the hotel and ask for the best deal they can give you. These appear to be during the week
