The hotel was what we thought it would be a very old converted building, attractive and in keeping with the area. It is on a road but during our two night stay the traffic did not bother us at all. The room was spacious and had tea and coffee making facilities but does need at the very least their bathrooms updating and new carpets. The carpets in the hall are very tired and dirty. Having said that the staff are very friendly and the bar is quite livey in the evenings which having spent the day in Eastbourne was a very nice atmosphere to come back to and enjoy a beverage or two! It is true that you can hear everyone's movement but as this was at a civilised time it was not a problem for us. One thing I would say is that the food in the restaurant in the evening is overpriced for the calibre. We paid £21.95 for two courses of what I thought was fairly mundane food. My other half orderd crispy pork and it was not crispy at all ! Have your meal in the bar. The bar food we saw being served looked very good and was reasonably priced. All in all I think for the money and the staff its not a bad place to stay at all. We enjoyed the experience.
