My parents live close to the Priory Court Hotel and my husband and I wanted to take them out for lunch on the 15th March. To make sure they served bar food on a Sunday, I emailed the proprietor with the date. He replied promptly and said they were serving bar food on that day from 12 noon. Perfect . . . or so I thought.
We drove two and a half hours on the M25, picked up my parents and duly arrived at the Priory Court at 12.15. We wandered in and came face to face with an unsmiling woman who told us in no uncertain terms that they were NOT serving bar food and that the restaurant had been block booked. No apology. I said I had emailed and been told differently by the proprietor. She merely shrugged and turned away.
Definitely lacking in customer care and public relations here.
My advice? If you're in the area and want lunch . . . drive on by.
