“well worth £10”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

my fiancee booked this and 2 other rooms for our group to stay in on our way to Elveden Forest Center Parcs, previous to arriving she rang to make sure the rooms were together and also we requested a travel cot so we didn't have to sort it out on arriving.
when we arrive at about 4pm the lady on the desk was very grumpy and you could tell she didn't want to be there but she gave us the keys and we got into the rooms. Couldn't fault the rooms, clean and very spacious, but 1 bath towel between a family of 4 isn't exactly helpful, we went and asked for more and the grumpy lady behind the desk rolled her eyes and went and fetched us some.
Overall we had a good nights sleep, couldn't hear any traffic considering how close to the road we was and we had a nice breakfast in the little chef in the morning, which wasn't as over priced as it is made out to be.
Also the morning staff member was very happy and nice to all of our party.

“Experience will depend on price you pay”

Now I can't complain as we paid £14 for the room for a night in the super December sale. It would be greedy of me to do so!
Although there are a few observations for those who will probably pay significantly more than this.
Now our room looked like it hadn't been updated since about 1994! It was tired and in desparate need of renovation. I would say it was the tiredest looking budget hotel room (premier inn/holiday inn/travelodge etc) I have ever stayed in. It was clean though.
We were in room 113 which overlooked the nice green area at the back. It was extremely quiet considering we were set back only a little from the busy A road.

The bed however was awful and my husband summed it up well by saying it was like sleeping on a trampoline. We seemed to keep rolling into the middle as whatever support the bed once had was no longer there! Now bearing in mind we paid £14 we are not moaning. However if we had paid £60 or so then we definitely would be!

I laughed when I read a previous review about the awful overpowering air freshner smell on the stairs. It was the first thing I said to my husband on the way in..."why does it smell like toilet cleaner!?". Thankfully it's just the hall that smelt like it.
I was a little put out that there was absolutely no shower gel/shampoo in the bathroom as we didn't actually pack any for the first time ever as there is always a bottle of something!

We had a nice meal at the pub over the road (just behind the little chef on the other side of the road) called the Olde Bull Inn so would recommend this.

Overall if you don't pay over the odds for this hotel you won't be disappointed.

“Good hotel at low prices”

The hotel has many advantages for visiting the area:-

* Plenty of free parking
* Petrol station
* Little Chef on site and another across the road
* Friendly staff
* Comfortable beds
* Close to main roads and roundabout

In addition to this prices are very low if booked through a sale.

“Comfortable Lodge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

Stayed here for a couple of nights and were quite impressed. It's basic but the room was clean and comfortable and the reception staff very helpful. It's situated well away from the road so we were not disturbed by traffic noise. The only slightly off-putting feature on arrival was the overwhelming smell from an air freshener in the stair well but this didn't pervade the corridors or rooms. If you are looking for good budget accommodation in the Bury St Edmunds area, I can recommend this Travelodge.
The only problem we had was with our sat-nav. I entered the post code but we were directed to the wrong side of the roundabout where the Travelodge was located. So be aware!

“Probably the best Travelodge I have stayed in yet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

Stayed for one night for work down in Bury St Edmunds area. Positive experience overall. Well lit clean car park. Pleasant and welcoming reception staff. Clean, well maintained tidy room.
Anyone who hasn't been to a Travelodge before would probably walk into the room and be shocked but they are designed to be basic and the rooms are somewhat colourless (Beige beige and beige) with sparsely furnished room.
As a female travelling alone I felt safe here.
Petrol station and Little Chef on site but although it was near a busy road junction (roundabout) I was surprised that I did not hear any troublesome road noise.
The room fulfilled all my basic requirements, that is to be clean with a comfortable bed= good nights sleep.
As with all relatively new design Travelodge's I have been in you can hear the guests above you walking around on the floor above, which wasn't too much of a problem.
The staff I came into contact with were very helpful and pleasant (one even worried about me because I was going out with wet hair. I don't often use a hair-drier but she was concerned I may not know that you can ask to use a hair-drier from reception. I did know).
I will be using this hotel again when I next have to work in the area. No complaints from me.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the rooms at the back of the hotel overlooking the small woodland area
