“Pretty much your standard Days Inn, and that's a good thing.”

Stayed 3 nights for a wedding in Finchingfield. Didn't spend much time in the hotel, but noted the room was excellent, very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bar was open 24 hours for residents. Breakfast was good, only buffet but good bread and stuff, although I missed the sausages I had experienced in the Days Inn Luton! As is the way in UK these days (I am a grumpy old man!) you need post codes to take a taxi anywhere..we had a couple of comical taxi rides to Great Leighs and Finchingfield. As there is no restaurant, those in a hurry (as we were) walk 2 minutes to the Haver Arms, which is a Harvester pub, and so close as to appear attached at first. Friendly pub, good food, but beware wine out the barrel..it's all foul! If you can find Great Leighs, there is the oldest Inn in England, called the St. Anne's Castle..excellent music venue, good beers and food, friendly bar staff and locals.

“Duvet needs to be thicker!”

We booked via our Wyndham Rewards which was quite difficult and had to ring various people both here and in the US. Then when we turned up, despite being greeted by a friendly and efficient young man (wasted at Days Inn) we were told that Wyndham Rewards had not communicated the fact that we had redeemed our rewards. He sorted this out very well for us but I do think Wyndham could have facilitated the whole thing a lot more easier. Also in the description of the hotel it mentioned 'fluffy white duvets'. Well they were white but they were not fluffy - far from it and despite the room being quite warm the duvets just did not do their job and we both had a restless night sleep. Harvester next door wasn't much better. The old guy greeting us was great, such a nice chap but food was grim.

“Standard Days Inn Hotel. It does what it says it does but no character.”

I stayed here after the online booking co. that we often use managed to book us into a hotel on the wrong day and then double booked us !

It is clean, efficient, well presented and the rooms are comfortable. I like to see a little character in my hotels. There is none in hotels like this but it does what is necessary. There is a Harvester restaurant next door which provided a perfectly acceptable evening meal.

Breakfast was a continental effort within the hotel. The croissants were a little over crisp but otherwise the meal was perfectly good.

There is a cinema about a mile away and there is a leisure centre located close to the cinema too.

Would I recommend this hotel ? For business travellers yes but not for holiday makers etc. not really.

“An Average type of British Motel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 May 2009

There was nothing really to commend this place unless you count free parking.
It's about 2 miles from the town centre on an industrial estate and next to a Harvester pub.
The rooms are large enough but there was a tiny shower room (no bath) and the pillows are the typical hard ones found in travel lodges.
I opened the kettle and found that the inside had a coating of brown slime - aaahhh !!!
The breakfast was a selection of toast, cereals, boiled eggs and fruit.
There is wi-fi but this is another hotel which believes it is in order to charge a tenner for 24 hours of access - disgraceful.
If you like it cheap with limited facilities, you'll probably like it. Me, I'll go elsewhere.

“Nothing Bad to Say”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2008

Was in Haverhill for work and was very nicely surprised that such a good hotel existed in such a small place.

Let's be clear - it's a budget hotel, but as such, very clean - very nice rooms and absolutey no downside.

It even has a bar.
Buffet breakfast is fine and the price is good as well.

  • Liked — Clean, modern, cheap
  • Disliked — Nothing - wouldn't comefor a holiday though
