I stay at quite alot of hotels on business and like the experience of trying those other than the normal "Holiday inn" "Travel inn" Travelodge" experiences.
I'll start with the good points:
Good location, right next to the sea. Near the pier/amusements/ leisure centre.
Room had a sea view.
Clean , new bed linen, smelt very nice! I had an excellent nights sleep.
Breakfast - as it was quiet - I had an almost personal service! Quickly cooked and reasonable quality.
Now the poor points:
Car park small, non secure and not clearly sign posted. Not a problem on a November night, but not sure about the "height" of season.
Receptionist didn't explain much other than to tell me to make sure I signed my bill on departure.
Reception/corridor/restaurant decor very tired, needs complete modernisation.
1st floor smells of smoke.
Poor signage for finding room/staircase.
Room decor reminded me a of a "seedy" set up (kinda kinky eh?!) and needs refurb.
Bathroom really bad - shower very dodgy.
TV only found BBC1 (midlands?),2, ITV4 and a fuzzy ITV1. How can this happen with "digital TV?"
The next door bar, which is linked to the hotel, looked a little scary. No "advertising" within the room for what was available with the restaurant or bar and didn't feel brave enough to find out!
No internet available.
Not good or bad:
Staff ( of the 3 I spoke to) tried to be helpful, but English was not their first language so "conversation" was tricky.
Would I stay again? Probably not, although underneath all the old stuff I reckon there could be a pratical, quality hotel. As per other reviewers - send in the Hotel Inspector.....
