“Bus trips treated differently”

My parents stayed at this hotel over the new year, and what they received what awful service.
Dinner on the friday started at 6.30 and they were still having food served at 9.30 in which time my mum went and telephoned me.
It was advertised that there would be a carvery meal on new years eve but this was not the case if you came by a coach..The customers who booked independently complained and they finally agreed to give them the carvery. BUT the coach trips were to have the normally menu..When my parents asked why they were not having a carvery, they were told that because they didnt know the number of passengers on the trip, they could be catered for, which is a complete joke. There was no organisation at the hotel they had to keep asking for simple things, like cutlery, salt, pepper, sugar, which should have been on table..They organised a race night which was a complete joke, no one could work the player.

The only up side to the whole trip was that the room was quite nice, it was warm..Also the company we were with was good..
My parents have stayed in numerous hotel through the country as they will not fly, and this is the only time they have received bad service..They WILL NOT be returning to this hotel and
will not be advising anyone to go there..

“New Year 2 night package”

Brilliant!! Really good value for the money. Staff lovely. Special mention for James and the lady on reception. Stayed 30th and 31st January with 4 friends. We had such fun!! Good entertainment both nights, with disco New Years Eve. Lovely food. The buffet on New Years Eve was plentiful and varied with bucks fizz and canapes reception and champagne at midnight. Really well organised The rooms may be a bit old fashioned but were very clean and lovely comfortable bed. Rooms were very quiet, had a seaview. We will certainly return throughout the year and if all is well be there for next New Year celebrations with our friends.
Well done the Marlborough Hotel.

Room Tip: We were at the front of the hotel which for the time of year were nice and quiet

Read some reviews on here. Had family room as we were three women seeing take that. Always read trip advisor and was worried after seeing some of the reviews. All other hotels sold out so we took sheets just in case. It was a VERY pleasant surprise. It was lovely. Clean nice service small breakfast but still ok. Would stay here again !!!

“It was a 'Grade 2 no frills' Stay”

Booked for a short trip away - room was adequate, clean and fresh, cleaned each day,we were not expecting a five star stay and we found the breakfast to be adequate and filling. Staff were excellent and polite.
Yes, the poor hotel could do with a lot of TLC but we found it OK for the price that we paid for our quick getaway.
Nice new TV in the room but unfortunately we had hardly any signals so the aerial/sky system needs updating. But we didnt go there just to watch T V!

“Well Done Marlborough”

We have just returned from a 4 day New Year break with David Urquhart travel staying at this hotel. We were concerned about what to expect as the reviews were saying that it was not a good hotel. We need not have worried as it turned out to be a lovely friendly hotel, it was clean comfortable with excellent food, staff could not do enough for us. There was entertainment each night including bingo Janice was the caller what an experience. We had one excursion which was to Ipswitch, if you get a chance don't miss it as it has plenty of shops and some lovely architecture.
