“Our favourite place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Been here 3 times now.
We love it and everything about it.
Food, wines, rooms, grounds, staff and so much more.
On one of our visits filming for Kingdom was taking place in the hotel restaurant.
We sat quietly watching, great fun.
This is a very special place and you are made to feel so at home.
We hopefully will just keep on returning.

Room Tip: All the rooms are different and all lovely. Look on the web site and have fun picking one.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here in the "Stalls" suite, on a £40 january deal. We were very impressed with the standards of the hotel. Very clean and friendly staff. Breakfast was very nice. All together a very nice 1 night get away. Would stay again.

Room Tip: On the website all the rooms look amazing.

“The perfect weekend treat!”

My husband whisked me off to Strattons Hotel for 2 nights as a surprise for my birthday. From the moment we were welcomed at reception till the time we were bid farewell it was the most perfect weekend. The hotel building is beautiful and full of charm which sits well with an eclectic and fascinating mix of artwork. It is obvious that the housekeeping team here do a great job.

We stayed in the Fantouche room which was beautifuly decorated and so comfortable.

We ate in the restaurant, The Rustic, on both nights and the food was truly wonderful. The Braised Muntjac and gin steamed pudding I ate on our first night was amazing and the pheasant I ate on the second superb, Sam you are my hero! I won't ever eat millionaires shortbread again, unless it is here.

Breakfast was also lovely with a choice of cereals, fruit and yogurt and a lovely selection of hot dishes, the kedgere was a brilliant rework of the usual with the addition of lentils and poached eggs.

The hotel, decor and food were outstanding but the real stars at Strattons are the staff. Charlie and Sophie in the restaurant in the evening were wonderful, they clearly share the enthusiasm of the chef for the food they serve. Michaela and the reception team were so welcoming and a tremendous help as we were planning how to spend the day.

I can't wait to come back!

“Lovely family-run hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

My wife and I travelled with my parents to visit a member of our family and chose Strattons as our hotel for the 2-day stay back in November. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our room (separate from the hotel) which was clean, large though with a sofa that was so low that extracting myself from it was always a little more of a struggle than I would like at my young middle age!

My parents room, in the top of the hotel, was a little small and difficult for them at their age to manoeuvre around which was a downside.

However, the staff were great, the restaurant was superb (everything made on site or local) and the location was great though Swaffham is a proper working town and not a tourist centre.

I would certainly stay there again, particularly when compared to the George nearby!

Beds were comfy, everything was spotless and I like the fact it was individual and not formulaic. Long may it remain so!

“A great find!”

The second time I have stayed at Strattons when I have been working in this area and on this occasion we took advantage of their special offers and my husband came too. We stayed in the Venetian room which was very comfortable, just would have liked better lighting in the bathroom and a better flushing loo!
We had a delicious meal in the evening. The food could be described as 'quirky' or 'inventive' but it is great to try new food combinations. It is all locally produced, well cooked and attractively presented. Unfortunately, this time we could not manage a meal in Cocoes as well!
The staff are very friendly and the Siamese cat welcoming!
Strattons is a great find and their special offers very good value. Hope my work takes me there again soon!

Room Tip: Look at the website as the rooms are all very individual.
