“Business trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

This is not some faceless business hotel chain, this is a converted country house.
What I received was a warm and professional service. The rooms are individual and perfectly adequate. Even my room above reception was warm and quiet.
I didn't eat in their restaurant in the evening however breakfast was good and the service prompt.
I will most certainly choose to stay here again.

“Excellent Mini Break”

We stayed at the Broom Hall Country Hotel on 15 October 2011 for one night as a couple with our dog.

After looking for several hotels that catered for taking dogs, we found Broom Hall. What an excellent find, we had a lovely spacious comfortable room (the photos on the website do not do it justice), lovely bathroom including bath and shower and also plenty of hot water.

The lunch, evening meal and breakfast was lovely. Most of all, the staff, in particular Mel, made our stay a very welcoming and enjoyable one. We will be back.

“Extremely pleasant stay. Would recommend it to anyone, business or pleasure”

Broom Hall is a lovely old Victorian building which has been sensitively adapted to hotel accommodation. The gardens are colourful and tranquil, the rooms spacious and the bathrooms are generous. The staff were wonderfully helpful at all times but were never overbearing or intrusive. There is the facility to enjoy either a Swedish or hot stone massage at a very reasonable price from an independent therapist which just put the icing on the cake for me. The food was good. Vegetarians are more than adequately catered for in a varied menu. (The goats cheese and caramelised onion tart is divine!)

“Stay away if you can”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2011

We stayed here on the 25th June 2011 to be near a family party.
The rooms were not clean and fresh in fact they smelt extremely damp even the bedding.
Our taps didn't work so we had to clean our teeth in hot water!!
Our bathroom was designed for disabled.
Breakfast was served by a young girl who didn't know anything - toast was brought after the breakfast was cleared away!! The breakfast was not good.
The whole hotel needs a 'deep clean'. The carpets are old and tired. I know this is a country house hotel but there are no excuses for poor hygiene.
To be honest the grounds of the hotel are amazing, but that is about the only thing that is.
Don't bother wasting your money

“Pleaseant change from faceless 'have a nice day' chain hotels”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2011

Helpful friendly service from local staff. Room was very clean.
Decor and fittings were a bit old fashioned but in good condition. At least they are not wasting resources by refurbishing perfectly ok rooms with stylish modern stuff that is not very functional. Full length bath (there's a rarity in a hotel) but no shower - so check your room has one if that's important to you. The building is a bit creaky - but noise from other rooms no worse than in many modern hotels. Plenty of light to sit and work by. The layout was a bit cramped - but that is what you get with many hotels that are converted country houses. Modern chain hotels don't have that problem, but then they don't usually have delightful gardens to walk around and sit out in, and dining room windows you'll want to sit by. Food was good and reasonable priced. Breakfasts cooked to order. Would stay here again if working in the area.
