We booked in at the weekend for 1 night on a Sunday. Very cosy room, spotlessly clean, with lovely clean bathroom/fluffy towels, pretty much everything you should need. Lots of tea and coffee and more on the landing which are left should you run out - there was also a shoe polish and brushes on the landing should you need, as well as some magazines and DVDs for the room! Lots of attention to detail and breakfast first class with lots of choice! Would definitely recommend !

We came to this restaurant as it was local to some family. It is very comfortable with lots of games for kids whilst we had a drink. The barman was a surely and unsmiling fellow but the waitress was lovely and very helpful with food choices and drinks.
The starters were all lovely we had cheese balls which were great. However we had a burger for the main course which they said was homemade but it was so salty and tasteless. My partner had the beef that had unfortunately been rogered but everything else was tasty. The puddings were find but it was only 2.30pm and they had to find the chef to do the puddings as he was about to leave which I thought was strange.

All in all a perfectly nice meal but nothing to write home about

we ate in the restuarant after being recommended by friends we wasn't disappointed with the food it was lovely, the staff were lovely but rushed off there feet so the actual service was a little slow. we didn't mind the slow service as we wasn't in a rush though i am sure this isn't how it is always run. I would highly recommend anyone to go to The Lawns for a good meal at reasonable prices

Our first visit to Holt was thoroughly enjoyable. We loved all the small independent shops and enjoyed great evening meals at Balthazaars and Byfords. The hotel was very nice and inviting. Breakfast was delicious and a great variety on offer. The room (number 8 I think) was comfortable and had an enormous bathroom. The only two gripes we had were 1) the shower was in the bath with no screen or curtain. With a bathroom this big it would have been better to install a separate shower. On our first morning, the water in the shower went hot, then cold, then off completely but it was Ok on the second morning even though you had to sit in the bath and hold the shower head over you! 2) the toilet didn't flush properly. When we reported this, the owner knew about it and had done a temporary repair whilst waiting for a part to arrive. Overall, it was a lovely weekend and it was a treat for my birthday so I didn't know the cost. From reading another review, if it was £95 per night I think it is a bit overpriced personally.
