“A real gem! 10/10 to Marven & Michael.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2010

Marven & Michael were perfect hosts. From the moment we arrived we knew this was somewhere special. Having admired the thoroughness and attention to detail in the decor we found that this carried through into the quality of service and every aspect of our stay. The delicious breakfast was beautifully presented and little touches like the linen napkins and cut glass tumblers demonstrated that this is no ordinary B&B.

Lovely room with 4 poster bed and little extras you would normally only expect in a smart hotel. Location is great as Holt is a lovely town and in a beautiful area.

We have have been recommending Plantation House to our friends and family ever since our delightful stay.

“Never felt so welcome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2010

We had the pleasure to stay with Marven and Michael for almost a week, in August. The moment they opened the door we were made very very welcome in their house. We stayed in the green room: Great bed, lovely interior. The room was spacious, bright and the bathroom had very adequate plumbing.
Marven and Michael have got a real eye for detail. The house is furnished in a colonial style and the cosiness of the living room invites you to sit down and finish off the evening with a glass of port.
The home cooked breakfasts were very delicious. Compliments to the cook :) The tables were laid beautifully in the morning. It's always a good sign if you can hear a lot of laughter at breakfast. Great atmosphere, great people, wonderful hosts! So much more than just a bed&breakfast.
We would always go back and can highly recommend staying there.

“Genuinely warm and personable hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2010

We were fortunate enough to stay at Plantation House during probably the busiest week of the year! Marven and Micheal are not only perfect hosts but genuinely lovely people and within minutes of meeting we felt right at home. Tea and biscuits in the garden on arrival made us feel really welcome and Marven kindly booked us dinner at a nearby restaurant which lived up to their high recommendation. As many others have already said a stay at Plantation House is really like staying with friends and the extra care and attention paid by M & M marks a stay here as something special. The accommodation, decor, garden and breakfast are excellent but it is the warmth, humour and personalities of Marven and Michael which makes Plantation House a real stand out and one that we will be returning to again.

“Exceptional, high quality accommodation.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2010

Marven and Mike made our stay at Plantation House exceptional. The very high attention to detail in all aspects (decor, cuisine, general atmosphere) of our experience made our stay a very pleasant, relaxed, very high quality experience.

We highly recommend Plantation House to anyone wishing to find a wonderful place to stay and relax while exploring the region.

Will be back for certain in the future.

“Delightful and friendly hosts who have created a very welcoming, eclectic and extremely comfortable home.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2010

To us, a B&B is normally somewhere we just spend the night whilst exploring the local area, but needs to be comfortable with all modern conveniences. However, such is the attention to detail and your comfort, at Plantation House, that its feels like a holiday destination in itself. The bedrooms are individually designed and furnished and very comfortable. We stayed in the French Room a generously and luxuriously furnished en-suite bedoom overlooking the garden. The breakfasts are excellent, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented in a tastefully decorated dining room. You want to spend time learning of the area whilst relaxing in the adjoining lounge and chatting with Marven and Mike about the best places to visit and eat. Marven's cooking is excellent - just don't ask for a poached egg! - bottled gas provides an intermittent supply of fuel making it very difficult to match Marven's exacting standards! It's so good you want to have dinner there too and enjoy their very own produce from the garden - but you'll have to settle for breakfast alone and their recommendations for dinner venues in nearby Holt. The garden is somewhere to enjoy too. Guests are welcome to use the garden, as I believe, many visit to do just that. This is Mike's area of expertise and he has created a very intimate and private space for you to relax in and enjoy, your schedule and weather permitting.
Marven and Mike are delightful and friendly hosts who have created a very welcoming, eclectic and extremely comfortable home where you are invited to stay.
