I was not going to leave a review about this hotel, but thought after reading some previous ones that I needed to at the least defend the Scole Inn!! I stayed at the scole inn with my husband not so long ago and I have to say that I loved every minute of it! The staff were so welcoming and friendly and the food was well priced and very full of flavour. I am sad to see that some people cannot appreciate the age of the building and of the rooms, why go and stay at a 16th century coaching inn if you are expecting all new mod cons??? We stayed in room 10 which is located inside the main building, and I have to say that I have never felt so at home in a hotel before. The room had a four poster bed which possibly could have done with a new mattress but none the less was full of character and a lovely/different experience. The bar downstairs had lovely old features which include a very impressive fire place and has a sort of relax and put your feet up feel. I personally feel that people should give the Scole Inn a chance and when you are staying there, keep an open mind and appreciate the age and history of the place. The prices of the rooms to stay there are unbeatable and include breakfast (which surprised me) so even if there are a few hiccups here and there I do not think that people really have the right to complain about such trivial matters, it is almost as if people are expecting a 5 star hotel for budget prices. The Scole Inn would look amazing if some money was put into redecorating and maybe some new but suitable furniture but myself and my husband both agreed that in this day and age it is hard to constantly keep things perfect (recession). Overall I loved the staff, the rooms and the building and couldn't have asked for more. Highly recommend for people looking for a lovely, cosy and affordable experience.
