“Good base for County Durham”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We stayed on a Travelzoo deal although we only live 45 minutes drive away. Staff are extremely courteous and helpful - a mention to Ray on reception and also the brasserie staff. Our upgrade was to a spacious executive room. It was so quiet too - wouldn't believe you were right next to the A1. Our meal in the brasserie was exceptional, some of the best food we had eaten - fabulous scotch egg starter. We also got complimentary portion of vegetables which was a nice touch. Will definitely stay again.

Dear PK2
Thank you for taking the time to give us your great comments after your stay. The team are thrilled with such feedback.
It was good to read that you had a quiet stay with the the triple glazing throughout doing its job. The Brasserie serve very good food with a lot of homemade dishes on the menu. You must try our Sunday carvery on your return, the homemade yorkshire puddings are great!!
The Hotel is ideal to explore the whole area, there is so much to see. When you book to return give us a call and we will point you in the direction of the not to be missed attractions.

“Great weekend”

We had a brilliant stay at the Aston Hotel. The staff were courteous and friendly and the we couldn't fault the service. Our room was comfortable, clean and spacious. We ate in the restaurant on the Friday evening - plenty of choice and a well-presented, tasty meal. Prices were a little high perhaps but certainly not overly expensive and the wine was realistically priced at £15 per bottle. You won't get stunning views here but the hotel is very handy for Durham and Beamish; both well-worth a visit. We would certainly recommend it and will definitely stay again.

Dear Bolton 180165
Thank you for your review after staying here at the Aston Darlington. It is great to read that you found your stay to be brilliant.
Our rooms are of a standard so you can move around and relax during your stay. The Brasserie does serve alot of homemade dishes on the menu and they are tasty. The wine list has been looked at closely, so there is a choice for most palates and also matches the menu.
We are in a great location for visiting the surrounding areas. On your return, Bowes museum and Raby castle are really worth a visit. Beamish have events all year round too and of course Durham city is a must to return to time and time again.
Follow us on our social media. Thank you once again and see you soon.

“A lovely relaxing break”

We got a two night deal at the hotel and were very surprised what good value it was. On arrival at the hotel we were served toasted teacakes and coffee while we waited for our friends. We were checked in by a very friendly receptionist and were given a room upgrade as an extra surprise. The bedroom was very comfy and luxurious with all the facilities that we could need.Lunch served in the dining room consisted of hot soup and delicious sandwiches. The three course evening meal was equally delicious and came with a bottle of wine for each couple. We had two very comfortable nights sleep in a massive bed and two very good breakfasts. The staff were very helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I would certainly recommend it as being excellent value for money and would love to stay there again in the future.

Dear Sheila H
Thank you for your review after your recent stay. It is great to read that you all had such a relaxing break with us. Think the king size beds help to give a good nights sleep and the fact that you have space to move around in the bedroom too.
Your comments have been passed onto the team and they are thrilled. We pride ourselves on the Hotel and the service which we give.
Our toasted teacakes which we serve in Brasserie 59 are a weakness of mine!! Our soup is homemade along with alot of the menu items. On your return you should try our homemade chocolate fondants.
We look forward to your return in the very near future.

“service beyond the call!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

i have stayed at this hotel about 7 times, it has always exceeded the level of service I would expect for the price, much better accomodation and service than equivelant travel lodges or premier inns. The staff are brilliant. They really excelled last week when they had a disaster regarding the electricity and hot water. They called me and had already arranged to book me into another local hotel, arranging for a cheaper rate ( altho it was a more expensive hotel and reserving a table for dinner for me, I could not have asked for better service after a 10 hour drive. The ONLY negative point I have and its probably just me but I really hate having to pay an extra £2.50 for some mixed veg with a meal I've already paid £12 or £15 for.

Your review has been passed onto the team and they were thrilled. In Brasserie 59 we do have alot of homemade dishes on the menu and i can only agree about the hand cut chips, they are moreish.
When you are away from home, we understand that you need a good connected, free WI FI system to stay in touch with family, friends and the office.
