“nice hotel and facilities, not really 4+ stars”

A nice hotel. Maybe when it was built it was a 4+ hotel. To date I would give it more like 3+ stars. The facilities around the hotel are nice - you have the beach and water park very very near (entrance free, but the big slides are for extra charge), horse ranch (careful - if you don't have experience don't ride - my wife fell from surprisingly galloping horse and got injured), mini-golf, carting. The food is OK but not something to write home about. The family room is nice but be prepared to a funny way of entering the room (through the yard). Maintenance is reasonable not more.

Room Tip: Regular room is too crowded for four. If you are four and more, go for the family room - it has a s...

“Great holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

Just back from the Star Beach Village after spending a lovely week there. I dont normally leave reivews but this was my first year going on holiday with a child and having read all the negative reviews about the hotel I felt compelled to write to put other families minds at rest who are considering here. There are however a few things to be aware and cautious of before booking. The staff were all very friendly, the hotel was very clean, our room was cleaned daily with fresh towels given each day. The rooms although fairly basic had everything that you would need, it was nice to have the second room to put the wee one down without us worrying that we would wake her. The beds were fairly hard but I actually like it like that and I found them very comfortable. The air con however did make a bit of a noise but not enough to keep us or the little one awake and you could turn it off if you wanted. We went for half board and we could not fault the breakfast buffet, it had everything you could possibly want, the evening meals were also good with different options each night, perhaps not brilliant choices for young eaters but we found things for her to eat each night. All drinks at dinner were separate cost so that was not something we expected but again not a major issue. The waiting staff were especially very nice. The location of the hotel was good too, right across the road from the star beach water park, it promotes free entrance which is true but if you want to go on any of the super tubes you need to pay (8 euros a day) but all the pools are free to go in to and there are plenty to choose from plus it is right on the beach too. It takes about 10 mins to walk in to the centre of Hersonissos but the walk is nice as there are plenty of little shops and tavernas enroute. We did get the impression that perhaps in the height of summer there could be a bit of noise coming from the star beach water park as it seems to be a bit of a party haven - great if this is what you are looking for and a few years ago we may have done but I would think carefully about booking to go in July/August for this reason. However that aside this hotel really does cater for families, and I would go again.

“No Need to Worry”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011

My husband and I have just returned from 2 weeks at Star Beach Village and what a brilliant holiday we had. I had read recent reviews before we went and was I worried! No need. The hotel was really quiet. It seems that during July and August things can get a bit out of hand at the Star Beach Water Park, but when we arrived on 13th September, all the parties at the water park had stopped. Our room was lovely, and the maid cleaned it daily. There was plenty of room for all our clothes. The bathroom as stated in previous reviews could be better laid out, but for 2 weeks we could live with it. The kitchen area is small and quite basic, but we never used it. As long as you aren't making a 3 course meal, I would say it would suffice. Having said that there was enough of everything to get by. The only negative thing I would say is that the beds are hard and not very comfortable. There was no noise at night from rowdy youngsters or anyone else for that matter. The pool bar was fab with Manos who was a real gentleman during the day and George a bit of a character at night! Both helped to make our holiday. We found the staff at reception pleasant and helpful and our Thomas Cook rep Gemma also helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet in the hotel restaurant has to be the best value going. 5 euros for all you can eat with a fantastic choice, from cereals, fruit, bacon, sausage, boiled, scrambled, fried eggs, omlettes, all types of bread including toast, french toast, rolls, cheeses, hams etc etc. The walk from the hotel to the harbour at the other end of Hersonnissos takes about 30 mins, but there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants to drop in to if you like! All in all we had no real complaints and would definitely go back, but September seems to be the best time to go.

“very disappointing not for families”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2011

it was very loud, the kindergarten supervisor was not working for several days with no explanation given, around the swimming pool it was dirty, the sunbeds were dirty, stained. The employees complained about their low salaries, the self catering description was a joke. The two rooms in our apartment were only half separated from each other, meaning a wall down the middle between the rooms, The apartment was not cleaned everyday. I contacted the Manager to complain but he never responded.
