I've been at hotel Dimitrion in august 2011. It is in the center of Hersonissos ,26 km from Heraklion. In this hotel i think 90% of the tourists are russians...very noisy.
The room isn't big, no TV, minibar or hair-dryer...but i don't think i needed it. The room has old furniture but it is very clean and the maid cleans it every day. At breakfast you have swedish buffet: tomatos, cheese, feta cheese, boiled eggs, salami, cereals with milk, butter, strawberry and apricot jam, coffee, tea and orange jus. For dinner: a lot of salads (with tomatos , cucumber, lettuce, salad with pasta and meat, corn....), soup, meat (lamb, chicken , beef ) with fries...and for dessert (watermelon or orange or mousse au chocolate....i've loved this one).
In the back yard there is a swimming pool (a nice one) and free beach chair.
I liked:- the location of the hotel (in the center of Hersonissos, 1 minute from the bus station that leads you to Heraklion, Aq. Nicolaus or any main city from Crete) . If you have a room with balcony to the street it will be very noise but you will see Hersonissos 's nightlife.
-the staff very nice and friendly (there is a very nice young lady with short hair at the reception, she speaks english very well and she hepls you with informations)
- the meals.
Disliked:-maybe the room should be more colorful (change some of the furniture)
-they don't have a storage room
-at the swimming pool the scale down in water is at 3,5 metres (if you don't hnow how to swim you have to struggle to get out of the pool).
So, if you put in balance the price of the room and the services ,you will see that it is a nice hotel. I believe that you will like staying here.
You have to visit Heraklion, Santorini, Aq Nicolaus..you will love Crete.
I will come back to Hersonissos and i will definitely stay to hotel Dimitrion .
