“OHHH HAPPY DAYS!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2010

I got back from Malia last night and my holiday was truly amazing! I was so worried after reading a lot of the reviews on this site, but i was pleasantly surprised to find a very clean room, really nice home cooked food, and polite staff! This hotel is the perfect place for a group of 18 year olds, literally a 5 minute walk to the main strip and surrounded by really nice restaurants! One thing i would say is be very polite to the staff and they will love you, we didn't get fined for a single thing and never had any problems with the staff mainly because we did as they said.

It's a great way to meet new people as the hotel is rammed with 18 year olds. The only down side is you don't get your room cleaned for the duration of your stay or get clean sheets, we did however get clean towels once. This didn't bother me at all because we were rarely in our room anyway!

Ignore all the terrible reviews, if you are nice to the staff and follow the rules, (such as no jumping in the pool after 9pm!) then you will have an amazing time!!!!!
Can't wait to go back!

“Brilliant 2weeks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2010

I went to Malia for two weeks and had the time of my life. The staff where great always having a laugh and the food at the restaurant was brilliant. The location was great and was only a short 5 minutes away from the strip perfect for the younger generation . definitely the recommended place to stay!!

“MISERABLE DAYS”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2010

I stayed in happy days back in 2005 and I didn't write a review back then but BOY do i remember everything! First of all I went with five other girls, two of us were on the bottom floor and the rest of the girls were on the 3rd floor. We were not allowed to go up stairs to the other girls, we had to sneak up and if we tried to go up the stairs the man would be on his way to CATCH us in the lift. It was like boarding school. So myself and my friend were stuck downstairs while the others had great time together upstairs. Even in the morning wed be a wake, wed have to call the girls from the balcony and most the time they would be snoring so they wouldn't hear us. It was a DISASTER! We were on holidays like. The rooms were self catering, yet every morning the owners would come into our room and count the bottles of drink. The cleaner would come in and dress the bed while We were in it not taking it into consideration that THE GUESTS were asleep. My friend, like any mad irish girl on holidays, got a henna tattoo and destroyed the sheet. Next day we bought washing powder and cleaned the sheet, the day we left she was charged €50 for the sheet that cost a couple of euro in Michael Guineys. We would of bought them a bloody sheet if they were that stuck. There was a gang of lads leaving the same day who was charged around the same for sticking a poster on the wall. If they did not pay up they would not of got their passports back which they took from us the first day we arrived. We hired quads for the two weeks we were there and one day I made a lot of racket trying to start up mine as it was low in petrol. The younger dark haired greek with the mother(granmother) popped out over the balcony of 2nd floor(where they sleep) and threw a sweeping brush at me. When I arrived back at the hotel that evening they acted like it never happened. They were so horrible to us. It was the worst experience of my life. We were young and lively but we did no different to anybody else on holidays. They never spoke to us for the whole two weeks. Crete itself was brilliant, star beach, the stripe at night is great and it was a brilliant holiday but we dreaded going back to the hotel every day. I'm suprised they are still open, they should be closed down. I would never go back there as for the whole two weeks we had nobody to represent us from these robbing thieves. Even the guys we hired the quad bikes from were scum. If you went into a shop they thought you were going to rob them. Basically the Irish make the holiday.

“stay in a hostel and save your self some money!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2010

what a waste of money this hotel turned out to be,stay in a hostel, save yourself some money and get better service! The most egotistical staff i have ever come across, if you staying for more than one week, they dont want to know you, they make you feel like your lucky to be staying in THEIR hotel. Your not allowed to sit and talk on your balcony after about 11pm due to noise, however you can be as rowdy as you wish if your buying drinks in their bar. There were thefts and accusations of customers being beaten up by the staff! All they are, is after your money, throwing fines around, threatening workers that they will make up fines, and keeping passports and using them as a bargaining chip for more money. The rooms are bog standard, and get cleaned once a week if your lucky, although dont get even a smudge of mascara on a towel, that will set you back 10euros when they eventually get around to changing your linen. The 'Boss' and his cronies, big and little chris are racist and aren't afraid of voicing their opinions, and Dina thinks she knows everything about everything, shes patronizing and arrogant. The food is completely over priced, as are the drinks, the bbq is pushed and pushed with people being threatened to be kicked out of the hotel if they don't pay for it. Greece is a brilliant place, but it just takes a few choice con artists running a hotel, to put you off going back.

“Happy Happy Days :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2010

on arrival to the hotel we were greeted by Faye who was very friendly, polite and helpful! She showed us to our room which was clean and cosy! We stayed here for 3weeks and in this time we felt very welcomed by Faye, Big chris, Little chris, Dina and even the night security Dimitris ( i think thats how you spell his name) Hes nothing like what people say he is.. If you respect him, he will respect you! you need to remember hes only doing his job. The pool was clean and there was a good atmosphere around the pool and bar area day and night! The prices arnt too expensiv and i would highly recommend Happy hour from 9-11 ;) The hotels food was lovley.. make sure you try a Gyros mhmm yumm! The hotel is situated in the old town which is a 5-10 min walk from the main strip, but from experiance from staying on the strip last year its much better staying here as you are away from all the loud music from clubs and all the mess people leave down the road!
The Sunday BBQ is well worth going to, the food is amazing, the bbq is followed by drinking games, pub quiz and kareokee (Dina will get you drunk) They play good music around the pool and have internet acsess, PS3, dvd player and wide screen TVs! we would like to say a big thank you to the staff at happy days.. Faye, big chris, little chris, Dina, Dimiri, Georgia who helped us out alot when we were here.. you all made us feel so welcome! see you in september! Elli & Sarahh x
