“Angry Days”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

To begin with, if you are planning a holiday to Malia with a group of mates, DO NOT book this hotel.
Upon arrival, the six of us were impressed with the apartments, they were clean and tidy enough for what you pay, a good size pool and what appeared to be friendly staff. However, we were quickly proven wrong.

We were refused our passports back after they were confiscated on the first day, and threatened with a $600 fine if we wanted them back, or to pack our bags and find elsewhere to stay. This was not the first time we were told to leave. After a member our of party suffered an injury on the first night and asked staff for some ice to aid the pain, he was simply told to "shut up" and to "F** off" as we were accused of being loud. In actual fact, my friend was genuinely in need of first aid and we were appalled by the staff's attitude toward their so-called guests.

After this confrontation, we were left with a really bad impression of the hotel owners and therefore kept ourselves to ourselves. It appears this wasn't good enough as we were continuously threatened and made to feel like naughty school children over trivial matters. For example, enjoying a few drinks on our balcony with our neighbours before heading out for the night was considered 'bad behaviour' by the staff and we were reprimanded. Considering the Malia strip doesnt come alive til midnight-ish, we didnt feel laughing, joking, and generally enjoying our holiday at 9pm or 10pm was unacceptable. The staff had other ideas.

Returning after a night out you are faced with lasers shone at your face by the security guards and are followed to your room by staff waiting up for you, told to get to bed and shut your front door, and not to come back out.

In summary, this is not a hotel designed for a group of people purely looking for a good time with friends, not acting like idiots. Do not let the hotel name fool you. By mid-week we were calling it 'Angry Days' due to the attitude of the staff. Far more apt description!

It is the cheapest hotel in Malia on all holiday search engines for a reason. We booked with Alpharooms.com who are reviewing our complaint.

Room Tip: Dont stay here. Avoid.

“I cannot wait to go back!”

I arrived here a day late due to a delayed flight yet there was still someone there to greet me and my friend. There was only 2 of us there on a girls holiday and the staff took good care of us. The pools are good, plenty of sun loungers but you may want to to get up a bit earlier to guarantee one. Drink is well priced and happy hour is amazing. My friend and I took advantage of the deal 2 cocktails for 8 euros 50 and almost worked our way through the entire list. Our room was nice, it wasn't cleaned regularly but we were rarely in it. The beds were comfy enough. The shower was not the best but was bearable. The kitchen was nice to an extent. The fridge door didn't seem to shut properly and the fridge was off if the magnet that came with the key was not placed in the slot by the door. No soap was supplied and only one roll of toilet paper was supplied, when that was gone you had to buy your own. Music plays throughout the day which is a great way to get the night started. There is usually a BBQ on a Sunday night for 14 euros per person, I recommend you attend this! First there is the meal and plenty food is supplied, you get free wine although we were supplied with a fish-bowl for the table. The staff seat you themselves and encourage you to interact with other guests, as it was only me and my friend this helped a lot although we'd met a few of the people at the hotel by the time the Sunday came. After the meal there is a quiz, your team is the table you are sat at. There are 4 rounds and the questions are reasonable. In between each round there is a drinking game, you don't volunteer for the drinking games, you're picked by the staff so if you don't want picked it's better to try and be 'quiet' or the staff will know how loud you can be and you'll be picked ;) I was picked for one game and in my opinion it was the best one. They make for very good memories! Karaoke comes after the quiz, they can find almost any song and it's great fun! The staff even get involved. Finally the quiz results are announced and 1st, 2nd and 3rd get a prize. My team came 2nd and we were given a fish-bowl to share with the winners who luckily for us were a group of lads we'd already met. There's 3 computers by the bar and it's 1 euro for 15 minutes of internet, there's a play station that offers PES to play and there's 2 pool tables. There's a safety deposit box for each room in reception which you pay 20 euros for and you have no choice but to pay for it, the staff take your passports when you arrive and they are very strict at times. If anything is broken you have to pay for it. Only food and drink bought at the bar is allowed by the pool. You aren't allowed to bring people who aren't staying at the hotel back with you. Apart from those few things the hotel is great! It's only a couple of minutes from restaurants and shops, there is also a small shop in the hotel. It's around 5-10 minutes from the strip and maybe 25 to the beach. It's very lively there and great for young groups of people. Malia itself is also amazing! We didn't go to too many clubs, most nights were spent in Zig Zag, that was personally my favourite. Other clubs do special nights like foam parties or have djs playing etc. Now I just hope I can get a good deal to go back to Malia next year! 'OOH AH MALIA' <3

Room Tip: If you want a room that is quieter, request one that is not facing the pool.

“OHHH HAPPY DAYS!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2010

I got back from Malia last night and my holiday was truly amazing! I was so worried after reading a lot of the reviews on this site, but i was pleasantly surprised to find a very clean room, really nice home cooked food, and polite staff! This hotel is the perfect place for a group of 18 year olds, literally a 5 minute walk to the main strip and surrounded by really nice restaurants! One thing i would say is be very polite to the staff and they will love you, we didn't get fined for a single thing and never had any problems with the staff mainly because we did as they said.

It's a great way to meet new people as the hotel is rammed with 18 year olds. The only down side is you don't get your room cleaned for the duration of your stay or get clean sheets, we did however get clean towels once. This didn't bother me at all because we were rarely in our room anyway!

Ignore all the terrible reviews, if you are nice to the staff and follow the rules, (such as no jumping in the pool after 9pm!) then you will have an amazing time!!!!!
Can't wait to go back!

I went to Malia for two weeks and had the time of my life. The staff where great always having a laugh and the food at the restaurant was brilliant. The location was great and was only a short 5 minutes away from the strip perfect for the younger generation . definitely the recommended place to stay!!
