We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 day stay in the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere at Z hotel. The rooms are basic and you have to be lucky to get hot water, however it's all kept extremely clean and everyone is very friendly and accommodating. Meals can be enjoyed family style at a big wooden table on the terrace. We had a fantastic Christmas dinner there...great fun and lots of laughs. The beautiful, green garden is a relief, as the beach is somewhat a disappointment. Very dirty and not a moment's peace there. Don't forget to watch the sunset from the rooftop...all in all, truly a great stay.

Had a great time at Z Hotel. Although we heard that not all the rooms are as good, we rented a room on the second floor, with windows on three sides. It was a very pleasant experience despite the March heat.

The Z Hotel seems to attract long-term travelers - we met one guy who stays at the Z five months every year.

The Z hotel is a gem. The rooms,white washed, are clean and basic,but charming. The location ,close to the beach is excellent with the roof providing views over Puri. The restaurant provide wonderful food at excellent prices.The large tables provide a great place to eat and drink or just chill out with the other guests The only warning is the senior manager , who failed to order our taxi and almost led us to miss our train . Though he is very unreliable , the rest of the staff are very nice and good at their jobs,especially the kitchen staff. I would recommend this hotel to all travellers.

Among the backpacker tat along CT road in Puri lies Zed, in a crumbling mansion set in lovely gardens, all white paint, cool floors, winding wooden staircases. The rooms are simple and beautiful, almost mediterranean. The long wooden table in the dining room looks out through the arches of a verandah onto a patio, with a view of the sea beyond, so restful that complete strangers sit around it to chat for hours. The food is excellent and the kitchen staff very friendly and obliging. The hotel is great value too.
The only thing to watch out for is the top management, who, in contrast to the rest of the staff, are careless and unhelpful. (The manager told us he had ordered us a taxi for 8am on our last day to catch a long distance train. When it hadn't come by 9am it turned out he hadn't ordered it. He neither apologized nor gave any urgency to getting us another one and it was only luck that we made the train).
