My husband and I stayed at the Z hotel for 3 nights, in a private room with no A/C and a shared bathroom. The rooms were quite spacious for budget India standards and they served reasonably priced and delicious breakfasts. Service was good overall. The problem at night was the mosquitoes -- even though the beds had mosquito nets, the windows had no screens and without the windows open, the heat was insufferable. Even with the mosquito nets, the little suckers somehow found their way in and by about 2AM each night, we were swarmed under the net by the mosquitoes. We slathered with insect repellent, which helped somewhat. Otherwise, the stay in the hotel was quite lovely. There was a shared room with TV and a place where you could "check out" books -- they wouldn't let me exchange, which was weird to me. I probably won't ever go back to Puri, but if I did, I'd stay here again.
