We spent the other 3 days of our honeymoon in Vythiri after 3 amazing days in Orange county, Coorg. While we did try to avoid comparisons, the only aspect in which Vythiri resembled Orange county was in their prices. We understand that its a forest-resort but thats no excuse for rooms not being cleaned properly; half of the lights in the room not working and shoddy house-keeping. While food quality was good, it lacked variety. We had the same kind of food for all three days. We never used their glasses as it always had some stain or dust.
We had opted for the honeymoon package which included a candle-light dinner. (paid extra for the package) We were served half a glass of wine each (Orange county had gifted us a whole bottle for free) along with a cake. However, none of them were hospitable enough to serve food on our "special treat" which was arranged far away from the buffet counter.
There is a morning trek at 7.30 and an evening trek at 5.30. Apart from those there are no other activities arranged by them. The wildlife hour at 6.30 seemed to be a joke. They just played a CD with pictures of birds on a LCD!!
The biggest positive was the ayurvedic massage at their Spa which was very relaxing. The much praised Mr Gopalkrishnan was seen only while our departure to wish us good-bye. Dont think we are ever going to come back here again.
Stayed in 1st week of February 2012
