“A Pretty Good Hotel for the Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

I was recently able to send the night at the Country Inn and Suites in Elyria. The hotel is not difficult to find is located close to several restaurants. Check –in took place in a smooth manner. I travel alone on business and did not like my original room In that it had two beds and I prefer a King-size bed. Initially there was going to be an extra charge for a room with a King-size bed. However, since there hotel was at a low occupancy, the person working the front desk decided to allow me to have the room without any extra cost. The front desk personnel were friendly and helpful with directions.

The hotel appears to have had no renovation in several years. Several stains were on the carpet and the curtains appeared direct. The air conditioner is an older floor model, which runs a little loud. The bed has an older mattress and three of the four pillows were made of foam rubber. However, one was a feather pillow. The room was fairly quiet and I was able to sleep well with any disruptions.

The bathroom was small, with an older shower head. The towels were worn and thin and the wash clothes where pretty rough. This would be good if you wanted a foliation, but not so good for simply taking a shower.

The breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes and assorted hot and cold cereal. The hotel is not particularly special, but nothing bad either. All in all, there is a limited of hotels to select from in Elyria and I suspect that this hotel is as good as any that is available. I will be back in May and I will probably stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 3rd floor

“Thanksgiving weekend - wonderful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

This was my second stay at this Country Inn and I was again very pleased.  While sort of in an industrial Setting, it is very convenient to many restaurants, shops, theaters and the mall.  It worked out very well for us.  We stayed through Thanksgiving weekend to see our daughter at Oberlin College which was 20 minutes up the road.  It is a far better option than the Oberlin Inn - that is for sure!  The staff was very friendly and greeted us on our returns.  It was fun and enjoyable.  The breakfast was quite good with many more choices than many other like places I have stayed.  In fact, they kept bringing out fresh food including the eggs right up to closing time.  Very nice.  The jacuzzi was great although the pool towels are a bit meager.  No worry - use three.  The bedroom was nice and worked out well.  We opted for the King room vice a King Suite to get a second room next door.  We worked that out with the manager in advance who was quite helpful on that.  I will stay again.

“Nice hotel, but woke up with BITES!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

Anytime we are in this area for a church conference, this is the hotel of our choice. It is very nice, clean and the customer service is excellent. As a habit, I always check online for bed buf reports and check the bed upon check-in. There was no evidence of bed bugs. However, the next morning, my mom had about 8-9 bites. We had seen pictures of bed bug bites online but these bites didn't resemble bed bug bites at the time (they eventually did look like bed bug bites). At first, they looked like mosquito bites so she thought it was a mosquito or spider. Throughout the day, the bites swelled and reddened. She also noticed a consistent pattern of three bites...characteristic of bed bugs. There were three of us in the room, but she was the only one who got bit. The front desk staff was very cooperative about refunding the room. We were told that the customer next door to us complained of bites as well...after a 4-day stay. Not sure what the case. As a precaution, I loaded all of my suitcase belongings into the HOT dryer when I returned home, just to be safe. I love this hotel, but I will probably not feel comfortable staying here again.

“Just fine!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

After seven hours of driving, my husband, two-year-old son and I were looking for a hotel outside of Cleveland around 2 a.m. I looked up hotels on Expedia in the car and started calling them to try to book directly. This was the only one that would give me the same rate as listed on Expedia, without having to go through Expedia. That's the reason we ended up there.

The room was just fine for a place to crash. The room was dark and the bed was comfortable. It was clean and the size worked well for the pack-and-play we set up, though we never used it!

After sleeping for five hours in the car, my son decided not to go back to sleep after we checked. To avoid bothering our neighbors, my husband spent several hours playing with him in the lobby and breakfast area. The staff was very nice to them during this time, even given them a few snacks!

My one "complaint" is that the breakfast wasn't good. There wasn't much variety and most of the food looked and tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. I didn't end up finishing anything I put on my plate.

“Will NEVER stay here again!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2011

Was traveling alone with my toddler and the crib that was put in my suite had warning stickers on the sides that were half coming off. Found this out when I had to take plastic out of my son's hands and mouth TWICE! He could have choked and/or died on that plastic! When I took it to the front desk during checkout, I got a very uncaring woman who simply apologized but did nothing else! Another review had hair on their floor and they get money off their bill but a child could have choked to death and I get nothing but a uncaring apology? Wasn't looking for money off but was hoping they cared more than I got.
