“Disgusted”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

Let me start off by saying I cannot believe this place is allowed to be open. I wouldnt exactly consider it a "budget hotel" For a price of nearly $100 after tax for 1 night. This place was single handedly the most disgusting, rundown, slum I have ever stayed in. We travel A LOT and can say we will NEVER stay in a Days Inn again after this experience. Upon checkout I notified the desk (which by the way had christmas lights hanging from it, in august) of my concerns and she shrugged her shoulders and said, "they wont give you your money back because you stayed, all I can say is there are lots of other hotels you can stay in next time. I had people last night rave of how nice it was, you cant please everybody." WHAT??? I just left in disgust. We checked in after midnight needless to say werent in the shape with a small child, a dog and having just driven 7 hours in the mood to hotel shop so unfortunately didnt have a choice but to stay but regreted it as we continued to discover everything. The ceilings were so low in the bathroom we kept banging our hands into it and I felt like I was in a camper it was so small, the 1980 wall board/paper had holes that were spakled and left and it was falling off the walls and peeling away from the floor, the grout chipping out on the dirty tile floor, filthy stained plastic tub that I wouldnt bathe my dog in let alone my child, no shampoo, cond. or lotion, had to go take from the cart down the hall (well shampoo anyway, thats all they had). No where to plug in the coffee pot except by balancing between the sink and wall, furiture (table and dresser) were from 1980 and both sticky, towels were tiny, grungy white see through thin, I have rags that are nicer!! There was no iron or ironing board. I saw one in the hall that I went and got to use. The ac was off when we arrived and it was stifiling hot in the room, so I turned it on and could see right in the vent which was covered in dirt, dust and dead bugs. We have stayed in a wide variety of hotels at all price ranges including some much cheaper than this and were 100 times nicer, newer and cleaner. I was not expecting 5 star amenities but do have minimal standards of which this hotel meets none of. Out of 5 stars I dont know if I would even give 1/2 star. This place needs to be gutted and completely updated and prices reduced.

Room Tip: stay away, keep driving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“An older hotel with current improvements.”

The hotel has improved. It is located near the interstate. The bathrooms are very small.

“Great inexpensive stay for our Erie, PA trip with reasonable drive time. Will be back.”

We found this gem in Conneaut, Ohio, about 1/2 hour from Waldameer Park in Erie.
It's a nice, clean hotel with friendly desk and housekeeping staff.
This is definitely one of the better Days Inns I have visited.

Continental breakfast included bagels, cereal, danish, toast, instant oatmeal and fruit. Wish the "orange juice" had not been something resembling Tang instead of the real thing. (No big deal). There is also a restaurant/lounge, but we did not visit.

We had a very late check-in; it was midnight by the time we got back from Erie. The hotel staff called to ensure we still wanted the room and the hotel was full. I'm glad they did us this courtesy.

There is NOTHING by this hotel but a K-Mart, it's just an exit on the highway. Since I was only using it for an overnight stay, that was fine with me.

If you are going over to Erie, be sure to visit Waldameer Park, a wonderful family amusement park right at the entrance to Presque Isle State Park. The Ravine Flyer II has been recognized as one of the best roller coasters in the world - deservedly so. It also has 2 great historic "haunted houses" from master designer Bill Tracy and just added some new family rides to its already great selection. There's also an extensive water park section.

Overall, we had a nice impression of this property and will stay there again when we're going to Erie, PA. It's a much better value than the hotels in Erie itself, where prices are driven up by the casino, Lake Erie and amusement park visitors. Take the extra 1/2 hour drive.

Heads up - There is also a Conneaut, PA, a Conneaut Lake and a few other similar towns. A friend who lives in Conneaut, OH warned us of the confusion. Keep an eye open when programming your GPS or mapping online.

“No frills budget motel that needs some work”

Days Inn Conneaut is conveniently located near the interstate.

The motel and rooms in general are a bit rough around the edges - starting to show signs of age.

Our room was small and the door was damaged, making it a bit difficult to close and open. But the bathroom was clean, the sheets on the bed smelled fresh, and the beds were fairly comfortable.

There is a pool, a small one with a pretty nice patio area around it. The kids spent a couple of hours playing, they had fun in it.

The continental breakfast left something to be desired. Not much variety, nowhere to sit down, just grab a pastry or muffin and eat it standing or back in your room.

The staff didn't stand out, one way or the other.

In the end, for the money, this Day's Inn worked as a place to get a good night's rest on our drive from Minnesota to Boston.

“Disgusting hotel with poor service!”

This hotel was HORRIBLE! We stayed because we had gotten stuck in a surprise snow storm. The first room was dirty, drawers still had items in them and there was coffee on the bathroom floor. The second room was dingy and cold. The hotel had not been updated in what seemed like 20 years. Stains all over the carpets and in the hallways, smells, and poor staffing. We were also told, that because there were no cribs we could just make the baby sleep in between us. No "Sorry for the inconvenience." Just telling us how to be parents. I would NEVER stay here again. Crappy service, nasty rooms, all for the low price of $75 a night!
