We found this gem in Conneaut, Ohio, about 1/2 hour from Waldameer Park in Erie.
It's a nice, clean hotel with friendly desk and housekeeping staff.
This is definitely one of the better Days Inns I have visited.
Continental breakfast included bagels, cereal, danish, toast, instant oatmeal and fruit. Wish the "orange juice" had not been something resembling Tang instead of the real thing. (No big deal). There is also a restaurant/lounge, but we did not visit.
We had a very late check-in; it was midnight by the time we got back from Erie. The hotel staff called to ensure we still wanted the room and the hotel was full. I'm glad they did us this courtesy.
There is NOTHING by this hotel but a K-Mart, it's just an exit on the highway. Since I was only using it for an overnight stay, that was fine with me.
If you are going over to Erie, be sure to visit Waldameer Park, a wonderful family amusement park right at the entrance to Presque Isle State Park. The Ravine Flyer II has been recognized as one of the best roller coasters in the world - deservedly so. It also has 2 great historic "haunted houses" from master designer Bill Tracy and just added some new family rides to its already great selection. There's also an extensive water park section.
Overall, we had a nice impression of this property and will stay there again when we're going to Erie, PA. It's a much better value than the hotels in Erie itself, where prices are driven up by the casino, Lake Erie and amusement park visitors. Take the extra 1/2 hour drive.
Heads up - There is also a Conneaut, PA, a Conneaut Lake and a few other similar towns. A friend who lives in Conneaut, OH warned us of the confusion. Keep an eye open when programming your GPS or mapping online.
