“Too busy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

There are things that are great & nots so great.
Great location, view, quiet rooms for the most part, shopping & food close by and walking distance, entertainment. It has everything.
The things I don't like about this hotel is:
1. sometimes it is very difficult to get an elevator due to congestion! And I'm not even kidding!
You are at a convention center.
2. The rooms are very used and average. Occasionally I have gotten rooms that were not cleaned well or needed repair. But they have always gotten me better room if I had a problem.
I have gotten rooms that the HVAC didn't work well. I changed rooms.
Sometimes a stale odor in the room like mildew or something.
This hotel generally has an extra room to move to if you get a bad one.
The staff has ALWAYS been friendly and accommodating. However, they get so much business that if you were to threaten to move to another hotel because bad service to whatever degree, they don't really care. It is a big hotel. Staffers are friendly, upper management not so much.

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback about Hyatt Regency Columbus. I wanted to address a couple of your points. You mentioned congestion at our elevator area: Please note that we now offer additional elevators in high volume situations for guest use. You also mentioned the level of wear and tear in the rooms: Please note that since February of 2011 we have undergone a $12 million guestroom renovation, and now have the newest hotel product in the city! I would love the opportunity to have you experience our beautiful guestrooms the next time your travels bring you to the Columbus area!

“Nice Place to Stay for Business”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Nice place to stay in the Columbus area if you are visiting the Columbus convention center. The rooms are decorated nicely but seem to be on the small side. The water temperature for the shower and sink was either too hot or cold. Hard to find just the right setting plus water pressure always seemed low.

Like other higher priced hotels/motels they charge for internet in your room. This is a pet peeve of mine since lower priced hotels provide it as part of the room charge. You could get free internet but you had to go down to the lobby.

“It's one of the nicest options in Columbus”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

My last stay at this hotel was prior to the recent remodel and it can't be said enough - what a profound difference it made! The new rooms are gorgeous and feel modern and clean. On this trip I was assigned a deluxe corner room and the bathroom had probably the best view of any hotel I've seen in a long time. That's right - I said the bathroom had a view. It's a corner room and the bathroom had almost wrap around windows. I felt like I was in a Tokyo luxury hotel.

Couple of complaint areas that need to somehow be addressed:
- The valet dropoff area is not very big and is sort of cumbersome to access. The hotel was not super full during my stay and so it was not an issue for me personally, but I could see that at maximum occupancy things at the valet would get very, very backed up and would lead to confusion
- The elevators really are very slow. Even on a pretty slow night it took me about 15 minutes to get up to my room upon arrival as I had to wait on several guests ahead of me with bags. The elevators themselves are not particularly large and do not accommodate a sufficient number of people plus bags considering there are 18 floors of rooms in a large convention hotel.
- Room service: My first morning I called down to room service several times at 6:30am. The phone rang busy the first few times I tried and the fourth time it rang with no pickup. My fifth called yielded an answer and a response. That added about 10-15 minutes to my breakfast time.

I much appreciated the staff pre-warning me to ring ahead for valet car service as there can be a bit of a delay in bringing the car up. I did as suggested on both days of my trip and my car was waiting for me at the entrance. It's a nice gesture by management to recognize the potential for dissatisfaction with elements of someone's stay and to preempt a negative experience with a solution. If they could solve some of the issues above it would be an improvement to an already great hotel option. I would wholeheartedly endorse this property.

Thank you for the feedback on your recent experience with us at Hyatt Regency Columbus. I am so pleased you were able to take advantage of one of our corner rooms. They do provide a lovely view of our beautiful downtown area!
I am glad calling ahead was a positive solution for your valet needs. We implemented the call ahead plan in an effort to alleviate the potential for back ups at the Valet Stand.
The elevators were a challenge, but a couple of years ago we refurbished our service elevators to help alleviate traffic to guest room floors during high convention times.
Thank you for bringing my attention to the room service concern. I will address this with our Food and Beverage staff to ensure any training issues are resolved.
Thank you for selecting Hyatt Regency Columbus for your travel needs. I look forward to being of service the next time you find yourself in the Columbus area.

“Great convention experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

We've been hosting our convention at the Hyatt Regency in Columbus for several years. We've been very impressed with the sales staff and the support staff on site. They truly care about us and our guests and it shows. We've rarely had a problem, but when something didn't go as planned, they were there asking what could be done to remedy the situation.
We're always held pre-convention meetings with their entire management team before each show and this has been helpful for both of us.
Our rooms have been clean and up to date; especially after the recent upgrade at the property. The premium service starts when you arrive and are greeted by the valet staff and it continues when you are greeted at the front desk. I like to dine in the market cafe, the service is fast and very friendly. It's a little pricy but very convenient. There's a food court within walking distance for the budget conscience.
I highly recommend this hotel for conventions and meetings.
