I stayed here in July 2010 and the again in July 2011. It was picked for the convenient location and all the hotels near were full. The halls and carpet are filthy and should have been replaced years ago. The atrium has a pond full of algea and who knows what else. The room was very warm when I arrived and took more than a day to cool down. I don't know who does their maintenance but he/she is not a handyman/woman. The continental breakfast was disgusting and the coffee was empty all three mornings. Also, forget about internet. I could not connect and the 800 number they provide gives you a person on the other end who will tell you they are no longer supporting the hotel. The outside is strewn with garbage (the same garbage the three nights I was there) and the parking lot look the Bagdad airport runway after an intense bombing campaign. I only wish I would have captured pictures. In short...
DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU ARE A HUMAN BEING.

Don't waste your money staying here. The hotel room was disgusting. There was little pieces of trash in most areas of the room when we checked in. The room was old and smelled bad. The bathroom sink had a hidden leak that ran out onto the carpet in front of the sink the whole weekend. You had to put down towel after towel to stand and brush your teeth. The bathtub was stopped up. The worker brought up draino and poured it into the drain instead of attempting to unclog, which put us an hour behind getting ready for our event. The sofa bed was broken. The tv was something out of Pycho...a little box on a revolving stand. The remote didn't work. One of the double beds (aka Queen as listed) was almost directly up against the rusty air conditioning unit. The atrium was cute, but dirty. The lobby carpets were dirty. There was no good quality to be found anywhere in this hotel.

The hotel has a huge atrium in the middle of it where you eat breakfast. The rooms are all two or more rooms in a suite. All large rooms. The rooms are a little old, but nice bed. Friendly staff. Location is not easy to get on and off the highway, but near a lot of restuarants.

I picked the Quality Inn at Schrock Rd. because I would be attending get-togethers in Dublin and at Easton, and also planned to visit the OSU campus during a four day weekend stay. The Schrock QI seemed to provide a central location at a reasonable price while not as being overtly smutty as the other hotels near the 161/71 intersection. I also figured the area wouldn't be too busy since there isn't really anything else around besides the Budweiser plant. It also advertised free internet, which we rely on heavily while traveling, and had king size beds available.

While the location was convenient, there were a number of downsides. First, the QI is located on a divided road. You can't turn left out of the parking lot and must always enter from the west. Columbus's no-U-turn policy doesn't help. Also, Schrock Rd., even on the weekends, is actually surprisingly busy.

My biggest complaint with the Schrock QI. was the pathetic excuse of free Internet access. My laptop had a very difficult time getting connected-- it would take anywhere from 10 to 45 minutes to finally connect to a wireless router-- and once you finally do get on the network, it feels like a 1400 phone modem, except less reliable. The front desk politely referred me to their tech line for help; I spent about 20 minutes talking to a tech, who supposedly flipped some settings, to no avail-- I think we both knew the truth: if the hotel has cheap or inadequate network hardware, there's absolutely nothing a remote support center can do. My ipod could not connect at all.

This is by far the worst internet access I've ever experienced at any hotel. If you're patient, you might be able to check email or the weather, but if you plan to do anything beyond that -- log onto a remote PC, stream a video, or even access a website with graphics-- then forget about it. It's that bad.

Other complaints: there was a heavy CRT television, perhaps about 35 inches, on a very rickety looking tv stand that leaned forward precariously. My 15-month old toddler was, of course, fascinated with this hazzard. I asked if it could be removed; the front desk suggested that I just move the whole unit over towards the fridge and put the coffee table in front of it. I did that, but the whole arrangement seemed cheap and dangerous.

The room was pretty dirty. Our white socks were pretty black after walking around the room. The shower had poor drainage-- it seemed to improve moderately after I pulled out the hair plug with a wad of toilet paper. Also, sound travels into the room from the courtyard pretty easily, if there should be a crowd out there.

The room size was good and I'm glad it had a fridge. The Thai restaurant downstairs is decent and the inner courtyard is quite nice. And all of my complaints above are somewhat mitigated by the lowish price. But I still wholeheartedly do NOT recommend the Quality Inn at Schrock Rd.
