“Bad Service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2011

I stayed at the hotel for two night by myself for business. The front desk staff were nice and I received a room on the last floor - the 4th - per my request. That was completely ok. The room was very nice and spacious for one person. If you are looking for a nice and clean room for not that much - you found the right place.
The reason I got annoyed is because of the unkindness of the staff: during two nights in a row I came back to the hotel after long days of meetings and tried to purchase drinks in the vending machines. The one on the first floor was broken (no sign - of course). When I reported this to the front desk, the woman said - thank you, I'll let someone fix it. The second day I went straight to the vending machine in the fourth floor - but there wasn't even a place to insert bills. For the second time, I was thirsty and annoyed. This is something that happens often I assume, but I expect someone at the desk to ask me what I wanted to purchase and help me get it, or give me alternatives as to how not to go to bed thirsty. No matter now that they offer free coffee that was essentially non-existent, or that the wi-fi doesn't work on Macs or on the iPhone.
When I got to the hotel the second night I was exhausted and asked the front desk to get me a wake-up call at 5:00am. I had an early flight and was nervous I wouldn't get there on time. Lucky for me, I tossed and turned out of nervousness and woke every hour or so until it was 4:45am and decided to get up. To my astonishment -- nobody called to wake me up! I could have overslept and missed my flight! When I left the hotel at 5:20am I was really angry and decided to tell the front desk. I went downstairs and told the person that I was leaving, and that I asked for a wake up call at 5:00am and no-one called. He just stared at me and said: "wow". I turned around and left, understanding that I shouldn't really even expect an apology or try to get me compensated. This has left me with a very bad taste. Not sure I'd want to come back there, but if I do, I'll set my expectations right.

“Great Ohio State location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2011

I stayed at this hotel with 2 teens who were attending a lacrosse camp at Woody Hayes Athletic Center. It was so close to the hotel, if it hadn't been 16 degrees outside, they could practically have walked. The parking lot kind of connects to a Kroger and several restaurants, like Applebys, which made it convenient for quick meals.
I needed a rollaway bed, and it was there when we checked in. It wasn't the folded kind, but rather in one piece, which made it surprisingly comfortable. The camp wasn't over until 3 the next day, and I had nowhere to go after check-out at 11, so they let me have the latest check-out possible, at 2:00, and there was no extra charge. Now that is service!
The breakfast was excellent, with many choices, and the employee who serviced it kept it clean, clean, clean. The whole hotel itself was clean.
All in all, the hotel made the weekend camp experience a really good one. I will stay there again.

“disappointed!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2010

I normally love these hotels but was disappointed with this one mainly because of the tiny room, and the breakfast was not good at all! That was the most disappointing thing. Service was good, but not outstanding. The pool was very nice and the bed was comfortable. We were in Columbus for an OSU function and the location was perfect.

“Good, Clean Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2010

The main reason for our trip to Columbus was to see the Titanic exhibit at the COSI, (which was very good). This hotel is centrally located for the zoo, COSI and downtown. Our room was very clean. We had a king suite (2 rooms) with sofa bed. Newer hotel, bathroom was fine, but could use an update, didn't really match the rest of the room/hotel. A/C was my only (minor) complaint. There was no thermostat, just a wall unit for heat/AC, so it was constantly blowing, unfortunately right next to the beds(& sofabed). Our room had two units, since there were two rooms. Although it provided a lot of white noise, so we heard nothing else, guess it had a positive. We didn't use the pool, but it was very small. Breakfast room was pleasant, with a decent/standard choice of food, The grounds are well kept with flowers etc.

“Nice hotel, free parking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2010

Hotel appeared very clean and tidy. Everything appeared new and updated. I stayed for three nights and my room was cleaned promptly every night I was there. I was upgraded to a King room with a pull-out--compared to other rooms I've stayed in Columbus, this room felt small and cramped. The extra flat-screen in the bedroom, large-size bathroom and CD player was a great touch, as well as the refrigerator and microwave. The only negative was when I stayed at this property, school was in session and the hotel was filled with rowdy sports teams. I'll be staying at this property this summer and look forward (hopefully) to some peace and quiet. Added plus was nearby restaurants and shopping. Grocery store was across the street. Free parking is a big plus.
