I've stayed here a few times over the past couple years. I really like the Columbus Westin Hotel, but I try to stay as loyal as I can to the Hilton brand. This hotel is in a perfect location for seeing the nightlife or catching a Blue Jackets game. And the rooms are a very generous size. Finally, the breakfast was better than expected and the server was an absolute delight. So, for the most part, this hotel is draped with positives. I do, however, have a few gripes.
- as a Hilton gold member, it would be nice to be occasionally upgraded when the hotel has an open room... higher floor, better view, larger suite, etc. Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn almost always upgrade me if they have availability. It's one of the reasons I stick with them and have let my Marriot and Starwood accounts dwindle recently.
- I ordered $60+ of room service 'snacks' during my last stay. The food took an hour to arrive and was mediocre at best. The steak sandwich was not only cold, but was priced at $22 on the bill even though the room service menu listed it at $14. After tipping the room service attendant an extra ten dollars (on top of the included gratuity), I was even more disappointed by the lackluster dishes. The front desk was nice enough to remove the steak sandwich from the bill, but I thought they probably should have done a little more.
Other than that, the hotel is a great choice for Columbus. In fact, I'm going to be staying there again next weekend, so the positives apparently outweigh the negatives for me. I'll just avoid the room service this time around.
