“OK Hotel, Nice Employees, Horrible Location”

I was a vendor at a trade show at the beginning of August and decided to stay here because it was convenient and they had an outdoor and indoor pool, my only requirements. We noticed, driving in, that the area was less than desirable, but thought that we'd just go out up the road anyhow.

The staff greeted us when we came in, directed us as where to unload and couldn't do enough for us! They unloaded all of our poorly packed merchandise and did it with smiles! I was extraordinarily impressed! Even the maids were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay! I really cann't say enough about them.

The hotel lobby and our room (we shared to save money so we could go out for nice dinners and drinks!) were great! They were clean, comfortable, and decently maintained. I was very happy and looking forward to our 5 day adventure. Two wild and crazy gals out for a night on the town!! Or so we thought.

After a long day of driving and unloading and merchandising, we decided to go out and see some local sites. What a mistake. We quickly learned that we were smack dab in the middle of Crack City. We found out that there had been a meth lab explosion the week before directly across the street from the hotel and everywhere we looked, there were unsavory characters. I was just greatful that I had a big nondescript white van and not my personal car with me or else I'm sure that it would have been jacked.

We grabbed dinner at a local joint and attempted to go out for drinks. I DO NOT recommend this for any middle class caucasian ladies. We were told by a local police officer that we should just go back to our hotel room.

So if you are looking for ANY sort of night life, and a safe area, stay down the road in Easton. But if you plan on not leaving the hotel, and don't intend on swimming, it's really not a bad place! Like I mentioned earlier, the staff is all so friendly and helpful and it shows that they all take pride in their work.

My biggest disappointment with the hotel was the swimming. We had made the final decision to stay there based on them having 2 pools. Their outdoor pool is drained and 1/2 filled with mud and leaves. Their indoor pool is open, but when my colleague went to take a swim, we realized that it is so overly chlorinated and the water is actually murky. Also, we swam to the deep end and discovered that since they have the doors to the outside propped open, stray cats are coming in and urinating in the pool room. We got out of there as quickly as possible and showered.

Room Tip: Clean, comfortable rooms, although I wish they would update thier TV's

“Not the worst hotel, but close”

This was not a hotel of my selection, I was attending a conference that was held here.
So, I stayed in the hotel despite my initial distaste for it. Driving up and walking in, the hotel had me nervous, as it's not in a good area, the outside appearance is really bad and the doors and the lobby look like it should have had a makeover 20 years ago. The check-in took forever. Despite having four people at the desk, it was very inefficient and slow. There were probably 3 people ahead of me and check-in took about 30 minutes. And most of the check-ins took at least 2 of the employees working on each transaction, sometimes requiring them to leave the desk and go into the office. Later that evening I had an issue with my key and had to wait another 30 minutes in line, because they were slow in checking in other people.

At check-in, I was asked if a ground floor room was okay. It was fine with me. Once I got into the room, I thought it was awful. The white comforters were stained. And the bathroom was filthy as though it had been filled with fresh towels and soap, but not cleaned. Not only was the bathroom extremely dated (can't decide if it was 70s or 80s style), the grout was stained with mildew and the tiles had water spots and soap scum all over it. Not to mention the enormous bug in the tub.
I was appalled at the condition of the room I was getting for the price I was paying, but did not initially complain, because I had to stay there regardless and I was not aware that
there were other rooms that had been renovated.
It was around five o'clock in the evening and the maids (whose room was right next to mine) were still cleaning the rooms and hallways until later that evening.

I put up with it until the next morning when the bathtub would not drain and my roommate had to take a shower in my leftover shower water.

Then, the maids, gathered in the hallway outside their room and mine, got into a screaming match. Two of the maids were screaming and cussing at each other and several other of the maids were standing by and egging the argument on. The others were just standing around enjoying the entertainment. SO unprofessional and yet there was nobody in authority that was there to break it up.

I went to the front desk and had to wait in line again to say that I had some problems with room 110. And immediately - the man at the front desk asked me - "Oh, the drain"? Then another clerk said - "No problem, we will move you to one of our renovated rooms."

??????????

This hotel was NOT sold out by any means. Why did they put me in an old, outdated room that they knew to have problems when they could have just put me in a "renovated" room to begin with? I must say the renovated room was infinitely nicer. The only other issue I had in that room was the next morning there was scalding hot water only. As if there were NO cold water at all. I ended up taking a sponge bath because I could not withstand the water. Later that day, at the conference, I heard another woman warning about washing your hands in the restrooms, that it was scalding hot water.

The conference did not allow for much of a lunch break, so we were all pretty much forced to eat at the hotel's buffet, which had limited choices. I'm not going to say that the food was bad. But it was nothing special and absolutely and completely overpriced.

Last issue is that the hotel structure is really broken up and you can't use one elevator for all the floors. The conference was on the sixth floor, my second room was on the fourth and I had to go from the sixth floor to the first to catch a different elevator to take me to the fourth. And the elevators are as slow as molasses and always, always filled with maids dragging big stuffed black trash bags on it. It made it impossible to go to the room during conference breaks.

If you have lots of free time to wait for elevators, and you don't have to eat at the hotel, and you know to ask for a renovated room...this hotel might be okay for you.

If you are a conference planner - this is not a hotel that will be convenient or impressive for your conference attendees and I would recommend you look for an alternate hotel.

“Overall pretty good... Slept very well!”

I stayed here with my company who had its meetings in the conference center at the hotel.

The facility itself is a little dated, but relatively clean and well kept.

The staff are all extremely friendly, very courteous, and do their jobs well. I was very impressed with the level of service I received.

My room had some small issues. My television remote did not work, but maintenance promptly brought me a replacement when I requested it around 10:30 on my first night there. I was impressed by that.

The walls, ceilings, and fixtures show signs of wear and tear, but there weren't any blatant problems. Again, just a little in need of some cosmetic updating.

I did sleep EXTREMELY WELL. The bed/pillows were surprisingly comfortable, which, if you read some of my other reviews, you'll see I'm very selecting about beds. I rested very well and woke up the next morning feeling refreshed.

Parking is ample and appears to be pretty safe. I didn't get a chance to explore the facility much more because I was very busy.

Overall, I wouldn't mind staying here again, but I can't say it would be my top pick if I was traveling for pleasure. For business, it's perfectly suitable.

“Not For Me...”

Based on Tripadvisor reviews I decided not to stay here, but I did attend a conference which was held here. I didn't see the rooms first-hand but heard a few stories that confirmed my decision to not stay here. To be fair many of the travellers I heard from at the conference said the rooms were fine, but again I won't relay those stories since I don't have first hand experience. What I can tell you about are the public areas and conference facilities.

Service: I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful at all times and I would like to give them the highest marks for that. I spoke to front desk agents twice, as well as had some interaction with the housekeeping staff and restaurant staff.

The hotel overall's appearance is old and tired like a real budget property. It is not near anything so you need a car if you want to get away for a while. The public areas appeared clean, just not very modern. The restrooms were clean with one that stayed out of service during our visit. The meeting room was comfortable. I ate at the buffet twice, once for a breakfast and one for a lunch. Both were delicious. Breakfast was $8.95. The lunch was included in my conference price so I don't know what it was, but one night for dinner they had chicken and tilapia for $14.95, but on another night it was about $21 (which I didn't eat) and that seemed a bit high.

I stayed near Easton Town Center, about 5 miles away, and was not disappointed. Great variety in things to do and restaurants close by. They also have a free shuttle that will take you around in the local area.

“Not Worth the Money. VERY, VERY, POOR SERVICE. BEWARE TRAVELERS.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 May 2011

This was the hotel of choice for a national rabbit show in Columbus, Ohio. We have stayed in Columbus before but never here and will not EVER stay again. The front desk was not to friendly when we checked in. The hotel was not very clean. My biggest problem was when we came back the second day in the mid afternoon we only had one hand towel, and one bath towel for 4 people. So we called the front desk and they said that house keeping was running behind and will have them available shorly. So only one of the four could take a shower before our banquet. We came back after the banquet and still no towels, So we called again and still the excuse of housekeeping running behind this was seven o'clock in the evening. After two more calls to the front desk and with no results I went down to the front desk and believe it or not they finally had some towels for us at ten o'clock in the evening. They still had many excuses and was not very friendly about the manner. We had a ten hour drive the next day home and would of liked to get to bed a little earlier than we did. Never have I had such a problem at a hotel and We stay in many throughout the year. I will never stay at another Ramada because of this and the front desk acted liked it was no big deal. Also when we arrived we asked about places to eat that was close and the comment from the lady at the front desk was we have a restrauant here and that was it no other help with places to eat so needless to say we didn't eat at the hotel.
